Iraola retired in 2015 & took his 1st coaching job in 2018; AEK Larnaca. He lasted 7 months but won the Super Cup & led them to group stages of the Europa League for just the 2nd time in their history. Ultimately, a lack of depth saw them struggle in the league & he was sacked.
@asim_lfc He thrived under Klopp tho. You may never know. A high press might actually mean a more compact unit, especially if the press is well coordinated and there aren't gaps all over the place.
@AnfieldSector You see all these silly prices for half decent players and then on the other hand, you see Liverpool letting top players leave for free ๐ค
@MarkmaccaMc Shite as an ยฃ80m first choice striker. Fine as a free signing backup striker who will become third choice striker once Ekitike is back fit and fully up to speed. If it frees funds to sign two class wingers then why not?
@bee_07__@AnfieldSector If you thought Konate's was poor on the ball, wait till you see Lacroix. He's a solid defender but lacks the composure or passing ability that top sides want. Guehi is miles clear of both in terms of progressive passing.
As crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't mind it. His pace, physicality & desire to press would fit well with Iraola's style. He'd be backup to the injury-prone Isak in Ekitike's absence. It would save money (which can be spent on wingers) & he can always be sold again in a year or two.
@AnfieldSector@alex_crook I don't see what he would solve tbh. We were way too open in midfield and lacked any sort of physicality or bite in the tackle. How exactly is Scott the answer?
Good. That would let the hype die down a bit. I don't even think he was at his best yesterday. As the RW, he couldn't get shots away/create meaningful chances after beating his man. He'll leave camp on Thursday & enjoy a well earned break ahead of joining pre-season under Iraola.
Rio Ngumoha won't be able to play for England at the 2026 World Cup even if injuries strike the squad before the tournament, as he wasn't named in the 55-player provisional squad submitted to FIFA last month ๐ ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
