✨Allen Lambert Galleria, described as the “crystal cathedral of commerce,” was designed by Santiago Calatrava and is part of Brookfield Place in Toronto, Canada.

The galleria’s design emulates organic forms through its soaring, tree-like columns that branch out to support the vaulted ceiling. There is a contrast between the white-painted steel of the structure and the surrounding materials of glass and stone. It is designed to maximize the use of natural light. The glass ceiling allows daylight to flood the interior, enhancing the openness of the space and reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.

In 1998, the building underwent a renovation led by architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, which included the addition of a mezzanine for the Sesi-SP Gallery. The structure is covered with an aluminum brise-soleil façade, earning it the nickname “cheese grater.” A mosaic by Roberto Burle Marx and Haruyoshi Ono is located at the secondary entrance to Alameda Santos. The building remains an architectural landmark in São Paulo, recognized for its design and role as a center for industrial and cultural activities.

Pimburattewa Tank in Sri Lanka is a marvel of ancient engineering, that was constructed by King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century. This impressive structure was designed for water storage and irrigation, highlighting the sophisticated hydraulic systems developed by ancient Sri Lankan civilizations.
