🚨 BREAKING: Half a million Palestinians in Gaza will lose monthly food assistance as funding shortages force major World Food Programme cuts ahead of winter, ABC News Australia reports.
➤ WFP is reducing its monthly reach from 1.6 million people to 1.1 million. Families receiving two food parcels will now get one, and flour bags will shrink.
➤ Daily hot meals have fallen from 250,000 to 150,000. Some families in hard-to-reach areas will receive meals every other day instead of daily. Cash assistance for 75,000 families is being cut by 40%.
➤ WFP’s Carl Skau said traditional donors, including the U.S. and Europe, have reduced funding. “It’s not because the needs are down … it’s only due to the lack of funding,” Skau told ABC.
➤ Around 1.4 million people face crisis-level hunger or worse, including 200,000 in emergency conditions. WFP says it urgently needs $450 million for six months of operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Children in Gaza have witnessed more violence, death, and destruction than any child should endure in a lifetime.

At The Sameer Project’s animal sanctuary in Sawarha, our animal therapy sessions offer children something different: a chance to feel safe, to be gentle, to nurture another living being instead of fearing for their own lives.
Through caring for animals, children learn compassion, responsibility, and the healing power of connection. Because children who have witnessed so much suffering deserve moments of tenderness. And every living being deserves care!!

Women’s health is too often neglected around the world. In Gaza, the occupation’s relentless bombardment and destruction of healthcare infrastructure have made preventive care nearly impossible. When women are struggling to feed their families, find shelter, and survive another day, early cancer detection becomes a privilege rather than a basic right. Help here: https://t.co/KSFD9iaT9W
As part of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Sameer Project organized an awareness and early detection education session for approximately 70 women at Refaat Alareer Camp on October 7, 2026.
Through our women’s health initiatives, we are working to restore access to preventive care, education, and dignity for Palestinian women. Survival should not come at the expense of women’s health.

Palestine’s olive harvest is a tradition passed down through generations, rooted in thousands of years of history. Our olive trees are more than a source of food and livelihood. They are symbols of our identity, our connection to the land, and our steadfastness.
Support Gaza here: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ
Every harvest brings families and communities together to pick olives, share breakfast, and celebrate traditions our ancestors practiced long before us.
On October 8, our team gathered with children from the Refaat Alareer Camp on agricultural land in Nuseirat to continue this cherished Palestinian tradition.
Despite three years of genocide, displacement, and destruction, our people continue to preserve what the occupation has tried to erase.
Our roots run deep. Our traditions endure. Our land is our identity. Help The Sameer Project stand with Palestinians in Gaza and support our General Fund: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ

Let’s not romanticize Palestinians steadfastness. Palestinians in Gaza are tired, they’re exhausted. Survival consumes their whole day and energy.

This woman talks about how depleting life is that even nostalgia is a luxury- even remembering life pre genocide is difficult, can you fathom that?
The Sameer Project continues to provide meals that are made in our kitchen. On September 20th, we gave out 504 meals of kofta (meat) and rice to Sahel Camp and Amal School in Deir El Balah. Total cost was around $1,382 including the 11% commission.

Providing water to Palestinians in Gaza is our duty. It’s not a nice gesture or an optional act, it is what we need to do. Donate now: https://t.co/uFKKDqN8Aw
It only costs $15 to provide a 1,000 liters of water, and currently The Sameer Project provides around 300,000 liters of fresh water per day. We focus our distributions to areas that aid don’t reach.
The Sameer Project has the ability to scale up and double the amount of water that we distribute but to do that we need consistent support. Giving monthly means we can predict and plan and scale up!

On September 6th, The Sameer Project team visited the Jenan 6 Camp in Khan Younis as part of a regular visit for chronic illness patients. This is part of a program where our doctors go every two weeks to check on the patients and top up their medication. Help now: https://t.co/KSFD9iaT9W
These medical days make a huge difference for people as clinics and hospitals are far from camps but also medication is too expensive for people to afford. Your donation makes lives easier for patients and they get free medication.
For us to sustain this program, we need around $1,500 for each visit. So $3,000 for each camp per month. This amount helps around 50 patients get their lifesaving medications regularly.

Your donations are facilitating Palestinians going to work in Gaza. The transport initiative provides agency and mobility to people, which is crucial during these times. Contribute here: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ
The Sameer Project provides 9 buses daily and transports on average 1,500 people everyday. The buses connect North Gaza with Gaza City and Gaza City with South Gaza.
It is important to understand that many vehicles in Gaza have been bombed and the ones still running are barely functioning. No spare parts are allowed into Gaza and the buses we run are constantly breaking down. So having access to transport is huge for Palestinians in Gaza.

While distributing water in honor of the martyr Mohammad Tammous, our team stopped at a school in Tal al-Zaatar, Beit Lahia, where students took a moment to honor his memory - the first martyr of October 7, 2026, three full years of genocide.
Mohammad was a friend of The Sameer Project. We collaborated with him and the Civil Defense on several initiatives, and he had hoped to join our team as a field worker in Beit Lahia.
He was known throughout this community for his courage, kindness, and faith. It was only fitting that the students of this community had the opportunity to remember him. Our team distributed juice and biscuits to 54 students in his honor, continuing his legacy of service and compassion, for a nominal cost
The Sameer Project not only serves Gaza, our team members are part of the communities we assist, they feel the pain of the genocide yet wake up the next day and continue on.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and The Sameer Project brought together approximately 175 women across three locations in Gaza for our Pink October awareness campaign.
Support now: https://t.co/KSFD9iaT9W
Here at our Sawarha Camp, women learned how to perform self-examinations, recognize warning signs, understand the importance of early diagnosis, and manage symptoms and side effects of breast cancer treatment.
Imagine facing a cancer diagnosis while displaced, living in a tent, with limited access to diagnostic testing, medication, and specialized care. Even amid genocide, women's health cannot be forgotten.
Through The Sameer Project’s awareness campaign, we organized these educational sessions, distributed informational materials, and provided small gifts and refreshments to participants. Three events. 175 women reached. A total cost of just about $980, including 11% commission but excluding doctors daily rates.

One of our most challenging initiatives is also one of our most important. Help now: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ
Fuel prices fluctuate. Tires need replacing. Vehicles break down. Roads are filled with rubble, and demand for a seat on our buses far exceeds the space available. Every day, our team navigates these challenges while prioritizing the safety of every passenger.
For families in Gaza who have lost nearly everything, transportation should not be another financial burden. Our free buses connect people to hospitals, essential services, and their communities.
This can’t happen without you. We need your support to keep these buses running. Every contribution helps cover the daily costs of providing free transportation to Palestinians who depend on it. Donate to The Sameer Project’s General Fund to help: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ

Imagine waking up not knowing that today is the day you will lose everything.
Give to Gaza: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ
That’s how natural disasters strike. A fire, an earthquake, a flood. Families lose their homes and everything they own without warning.
Now imagine experiencing that not once, twice, or even five times. We know families in Gaza who have been forcibly displaced more than 20 times.
What’s left after losing everything over and over again? Sometimes nothing but the clothes on your back and the fact that you're still breathing. Families in Gaza repeatedly describe displacement as one of the hardest parts of surviving this genocide. The constant fear, uncertainty, exhaustion, and loss of any sense of stability.
Three years into this genocide, families deserve more than another temporary tent. They deserve stability, dignity, and the chance to rebuild their lives. Donate to The Sameer Project’s General Fund: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ. Help us provide more than temporary survival. Help us provide a sense of protection and safety this winter.

Before the genocide, these families lived in homes and apartments. They never imagined they would need to learn how to extinguish a burning gas cylinder before the flames spread through an entire camp of tents!!

But the occupation has forced Palestinians into living conditions where even the smallest emergency can become a catastrophe.
The Sameer Project, in cooperation with the Civil Defense, is organizing a series of emergency preparedness sessions across our camps, here on October 12 teaching families how to prevent fires, respond to emergencies, and protect one another. These are survival skills no family should have been forced to learn. But until families can return to safe homes, we will do everything we can to keep them safe.
We provided the fuel for the demonstration, lunch for the trainers, and refreshments for all the participants.
Preparation, being ready for an emergency response, is the first line of defense in Gaza where catastrophes occur daily. Help us prepare the families on our camps and give to the Refaat Alareer Camp Campaign: https://t.co/xuIrgEi2ih

Nearly 150,000 buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or severely damaged. Yet families are still sheltering inside structures at risk of collapse because they have nowhere else to go.
Help here: https://t.co/AgJLG5UnYx
In Beit Lahia, the Nabhan family was living beneath a roof that could collapse on them at any moment. Every night was a risk of being buried beneath the rubble of their own home.
In coordination with Beit Lahia Municipality, The Sameer Project relocated four families, 15 people, providing four tents and transportation to safer shelter. The total cost after 11% commission was $2,314 and ensured these four families are no longer sleeping beneath a collapsing roof.

While airstrikes and drone attacks continue across Gaza, Palestinian engineers and scientists are already planning for the future.
Give to Gaza: https://t.co/AgJLG5UnYx
Their homes have been destroyed. Their families have been martyred. Yet they remain determined to rebuild Gaza.
On October 13, The Sameer Project sponsored a day-long conference bringing together some of Gaza’s brightest minds to discuss how to rebuild water, sanitation, and sewage infrastructure safely, reliably, and sustainably.
Even in the midst of genocide, Palestinians are planning for a future on their land. They are not waiting for the world to rebuild Gaza for them. This is resistance through knowledge, innovation, and determination. This is planning defiantly for Gaza’s future.

Gaza's dependence on humanitarian aid did not begin in October 2023. It was manufactured through nearly two decades of siege and blockade.
Before the genocide, nearly 50% of Gaza's workforce was unemployed, and 80% of the population depended on international aid. The occupation’s restrictions strangled commerce, limited economic opportunities, and prevented countless students from pursuing higher education abroad.
And every few years, another military assault destroyed homes, businesses, and infrastructure, setting back whatever progress Palestinians had struggled to make.
Today, unemployment has soared to over 80%. Palestinians do not lack the ambition, education, or determination to build their own economy. They have been systematically denied the freedom and opportunity to do so. They want to be able to provide for themselves.
Gaza does not need permanent dependence on aid. Gaza needs the freedom to thrive!! We hope to one day not be needed in this same capacity, giving our emergency assistance. But until then, support The Sameer Project’s General Fund so we can at least provide aid with dignity, respect, and the goal to return agency back to Gaza.
