A patient who purchases expensive private insurance in #Lebanon (paying cash USD, known as Fresh Dollars) went into the top private hospital for a relatively easy surgery. When she was feeling dizzy, the nurse who was putting up the IV took off her expensive watch, which she could not find thereafter even after asking the hospital about it (turns out, hospital has a sign saying it does not take responsibility for lost items).
Another nurse warned the patient not to leave her cell phone on the nightstand when she falls asleep at night and offered a drawer with a lock. This nurse expected tip for her protective services. When the patient checked out, hospital asked her for $500. With a Cadillac level insurance, why? Hospital said some items used in the surgery were not covered. Patient made a scene. $500 bill was shredded. Patient asked for $50 deposit she had paid to be refunded, as hospital had told her. Patient got $36 back. $14 were taken out as "hospital admittance fee."
And you still get some idiots who insist that if you have money in Lebanon, you will not notice the free fall.
My fear is that, even if Hezbollah is ever miraculously disbanded, Lebanon will never recover. Lebanon's social culture has sunken into levels from which coming back looks impossible. The people's culture has been corrupted, and I cannot think of possible ways to fix it.
