Here's another example: Rep. @PramilaJayapal was reportedly the target of an assassination plot. A man was arrested outside of her home, while she and her family were there, in possession of a .40 caliber handgun. That was this week. https://t.co/gqRLz0wcOE

You can call that cynical if you wish (and I'm sure many will) but I say this as someone who has believed, for quite a long time, that our country offers a majestic vision of what politics could be if people of good faith were leading. Double standards are not good faith. Simple.

"Civility" is a currency only recognized when proffered with white male hands. Otherwise, it is a glittering ideal that shines best in old textbooks written by people who have never once had their humanity debated out in the open and are all too happy to debate that of others.
