@pennysmitt ๐คฃ๐คฃ I do legitimately think guys from outside of Auckland will have bad blood and a genuine rivalry. Its the little brother mentality. So hopefully guys will really want to wear the South jersey and despise the rich kids in the city ๐
Presenting the Starting 13s for the (hypothetical) Kiwi State of O!
The Battle of the Land, City v Country...
North (Auckland/Northland) vs South (Anywhere else)
Who wins it?
P.s. expecting Joey Manu to make a shock return to league as well.
@pennysmitt I'm not sure how eligibility would work officially. For these teams, I've most gone off where they were born, where they grew up, or family ties.
@fugazeyfugazi That's probably fair. Had a hard time with the centres and you forget guys that were born here but moved over early. Katoa could definitely be in there alongside Hughes although two similar players.
A lot of people seem to think the North wins this. Interesting parallel to State of Origin where often NSW has the better team on paper... but I wonder if the Auckland v the Rest mentality might just do a little extra for the South side...

Massive wraps needs to be given to RTS and AKP. We often talk about edges needing time to gel and build a combination. That's the first time those two have ever played together, and it was solid as a rock. Seriously impressive
I said to Aysh when I walked into the studio tonight "this kind of feels like Warriors v Penrith Magic Round in 2024". The Warriors were given absolutely no hope of winning tonight. They delivered in a MASSIVE way. Incredible win. Momentum back.

Reflecting on the Warriors win last night and I think the most remarkable aspect wasn't just the 40 points, but the fact they lost Capewell in the pre-game and CHT 10 mins in. Not many teams would deal with that in such a way that still allows them to score 40.
Kia ora Warriors and Running it Straight whanau! If you're a listener to the show on Sport Nation (every Tuesday at 6pm) we're keen to hear what sorts of things you like hearing and what we could do more of! All thoughts welcome!
Was asked on a live stream tonight who's an outside back the Warriors could genuinely target in future. I didn't hesitant... Will Warbrick. He's got a lot to work through right now, but when fully fit... you get pace, aerial threat, fitness, defense, & a good Kiwi lad. Thoughts?
