Over the past few weeks, @ActiveHist has run a series of posts on different aspects of the @CndHistAssoc's Task Force on the Future of the History PhD. Here they all are for your consideration! 1/n

"Creating multiple pathways to meet a dissertation’s core learning objectives and outcomes is not easy work for departments, but it is necessary work."

@teacher_phd @ThePhDPlace@AcademicChatter I was just talking about this with someone last week. Openly Bipolar grad student (History) and would love to chat more!
Check out this short piece I wrote on grad student perspectives on the future of the History PhD.

The bike lanes have been there for two years. If you can act with awareness when a lane closes for construction, you can adapt to acting with awareness around another traffic lane existing.
Hey @cityoftoronto folks- The @EastYork_TO bike lanes along Danforth have been there for >2yrs. Your “I didn’t know it was there” excuse no longer applies. You have the ability to learn &adapt you’ve even done it in the last 2yrs.
Bike lanes are not dangerous to you in your car
Jaywalking across three lanes of traffic and then not checking the last lane of traffic (bike lane) is a dangerous behaviour. Period. So is stepping out into any lane of traffic without looking.
That choice doesn’t make the bike lane more dangerous than the car lanes.
I learned so much from my fellow committee members working on this report - we have a lot of recommendations for how to improve the PhD experience. @LooTina@samhossack https://t.co/gX0kfEVahb
.@blogTO are you sure "a dumpster fire of traffic" is how you want to report on a fundraiser for women's mental health??
Surely, opening roads to activities that raise $ & awareness for causes like cancer & mental health can be reported in a less incendiary way...
Our Special General Meeting will take place on 16 June at 1pm Eastern Time. Please email our chair [email protected] for the Zoom link or if you have any questions!
Only a few hours left to nominate yourself for a position on the @CHAgradstudents Committee for 2022-23.
This is an awesome opportunity for history grad students to get involved with the CHA

@MelaneeLThomas I use this as a foundation when I do feedback sessions with grad students and encourage them to use the tools and skills for convos with their students. We often forget that giving/receiving feedback (incl teaching evals) is a skill itself. https://t.co/tjVQyKXBL8
I spent January actively defending my weekends, refusing to give in to the urge to "just do that one bit of work". It was great for my mental wellness.
Now I'm ~4 days behind on work.
Which is less great for my mental wellness. Not sure what to do about my Feb weekends...
