Egypt understood that with F-16 symbolism. Ethiopia misunderstood it with Bishoftu symbolism.

If Ethiopia wants influence in Washington, it must speak Washington’s language: Not ideology. Not sovereignty rhetoric. Not military theater.

But: Commerce. Contracts. Corporations. Capital. Markets. Industry.

That is Boeing diplomacy.

Because in transactional geopolitics, the question is never: “What weapons do you have?”

It is: “What markets do you offer?” “What industries benefit?” “What companies grow?” “What contracts expand?”

Power today does not flow through barrels of guns alone— it flows through balance sheets, supply chains, and corporate ecosystems.

Ethiopia does not lack strategic assets. It lacks strategic signaling.

And until its diplomacy learns to speak the language of modern power, it will keep mistaking symbolism for strategy—and presence for influence.2/2

Egypt calls #GERD "unilateral," and demands a binding agreement?? But who is really reconfiguring the Nile unilaterally?
Cairo is pumping 5.5B cubic meters of Nile water out of the river basin and into the Sahara for the Toshka Project. This isn’t "water security", it’s hydrological malpractice.
While Ethiopia built a dam to provide clean energy for 135M people (returning water to the river), Egypt is "greening the desert" where 15mm/day of evaporation turns the Nile into a mirage.
The double standard must be over. No binding agreement on the GERD until Egypt subjects its desert diversions to the same rules!! Egypt cannot demand a "binding agreement" for a dam that saves water while it unilaterally bleeds the river dry in the Sahara
