How big of a fool I was to think, I need to know everything before I started something.
Take my advice. Just start, put the skill at work.
Everything else will follow.
Before you build a business,
learn to build yourself.
Wake up when you said you would.
Keep your room clean.
Take care of your appearance.
Speak clearly.
Listen properly.
Reply when you said you would.
Show up on time.
Treat people well when you have nothing to gain from them.
Keep your word.
These aren't separate from success.
They are the foundation on which everything else sits.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
— Carl Jung
Think about that.
You wake up with a thought.
You believe it.
You make a decision because of it.
You repeat the decision until it becomes a habit.
The habit becomes your personality.
And eventually, you call the result of all of it your life.
But what if you started picking your thoughts the way you pick your clothes?
Not every thought that enters your mind deserves to be worn.
Some are inherited.
Some are fear.
Some are old wounds pretending to be wisdom.
Some were put there by people who never knew who you could become.
You don't have to believe every thought simply because it sounds like your own voice.
Make it conscious. Then choose.
Be like the turtle that won the race.
Maybe instead of rushing into things, you should slow down.
Start small.
When you want to lose weight or build your body, you're told to start with lighter weights, fewer reps, fewer sets. You don't walk into a gym on day one and try to do everything.
So why is it that when we decide to start a business, we suddenly want to do everything in one day?
Learn marketing.
Build a website.
Create a product.
Post on social media.
Get clients.
Make money.
And when we don't have an exact plan for all of it, we become overwhelmed and anxious.
I get it. We all want to make money.
But rushing into it isn't going to make you successful faster.
You need to move.
That's it.
You need to be in motion.
Learn one thing.
Try it.
Make something.
Talk to someone.
Get one small result.
Then take the next step.
Because sometimes we don't lose because we weren't capable.
We lose because we expected everything to work in three days.
Nothing happened.
So we stopped.
You don't need to have your entire life figured out before you begin.
Start slow.
Stay in motion.
Remember, Slow and Steady, Wins the race.
