220 Ceasefire Violations by Israel in Lebanon in 3 days

Since the ceasefire went into effect on 17 April until 19 April (noon), Israel has committed 220 violations in Lebanon, according to the Lebanese National Center for Scientific Research and National Center for Natural Hazards and Early Warning

These ceasefire violations killed 3 people and injured 7, including 4 paramedics.

They included:
- ⁠7 aerial strikes
- 50 detonations and blowing up infrastructure
- ⁠52 artillery shelling
- ⁠15 shooting with machine guns.
- ⁠30 incidents of overflights by military and reconnaissance planes, including over Beirut.

The issue was simple: if a track existed that could get Lebanon to a ceasefire faster, dismissing it just because Iran was part of it is not strategy. It is ideological reflex.

The question is not who dragged us into this war. The question is what gets a ceasefire fastest. If a regional de-escalation track could do that, rejecting it just because Iran was part of it is vanity paid for in Lebanese blood.

@rami_kiwan A better strategy was to tie Lebanon to the regional de-escalation track, not detach it from it: insist Lebanon be covered by any ceasefire framework and hold that a ceasefire is the gateway to direct talks, not something conceded before they begin.

أسبانيا تدين جرائم الحرب الحاصلة هلى أرض لبنان. ماذا عنا نحن؟ هل نعمل على توثيق هذه الجرائم؟ هل نبحث آلية دولية لمحاسبتها؟ أن ترغب الحكومة بالتفاوض لا يستدعي ابدا إغلاق العين عن الجريمة بل على العكس التسلح بالوثائق بشأنها لتقوية الموقف وتدعيمه.

كلما زاد العداء بين المحاور حدة كلما زاد الخطر على الوحدة اللبنانية. والرجاء والأمل اليوم هو تغليب الحكمة السياسية في الحفاظ على مؤسسات الدولة من دون زجها في لعبة المحاور او في اتون خلافات يرجح ان تستعر. اول هذه المؤسسات واهمها الجيش طبعا.

أخطر ما يمكن أن يصل اليه العمل السياسي اليوم هو شموليته، اي العمل الذي يبرر كل شيء من أجل بلوغ غاياته. ثمة قيم يجب أن تبقى أثمن وأغلى من اي مشروع سياسي، لأنها سابقة لأي مشروع ويؤمل بقاؤها من بعده. فلنفكر في هذه اللحظة اولا بهذه القيم.
