Last year before the election Sir Keir Starmer came and spoke to farmers. Here is a video of his broken promises and the 5 ways the Labour Party are killing off British agriculture. (Part 1)
@UKLabour vile treatment of farming and the rural economy grows with @DefraGovUK closing SFI just like that, a statement full of BS. What a 💩show @Keir_Starmer government is. We all deserve so much better. P
Keir Starmer makes out that tax breaks for farmers / family businesses are some kind of aberration, but they are actually the NORM in most countries that export food to the UK!
I've not seen this argument made much, so here's a thread on how these new IHT rules compare. 🧵
This is one of the best summaries of how the government are hammering UK farmers on so many different levels. Please take a few minutes of your time to watch and listen. Support our farmers. Our food security depends on them.
@SaveBritishFood
Can somebody explain to @SteveReedMP what the letters in DEFRA stand for? He seems to have forgotten.
I can’t eat a runway nor can I open a bird sanctuary at the end of it.
Fantastic speech from @RachelReeves.
I am proud @DefraGovUK is playing a leading role to kickstart the economy as part of our Plan for Change.
Here’s how👇🏼
75% of farms across England & Scotland will be impacted by the new tax rules, which will see the full 100% relief from Inheritance Tax restricted to the first £1m of combined agricultural & business property.

Great day talking with and thanking shoppers at Great Dunmow @Tesco for the support against the govs dreadful budget. @RachelReevesMP is it about time you started engaging with the economy you’re supposed to be responsible for? @NFUtweets
You would hope any well thought out policy considers multiple consequential outcomes but @Keir_Starmer proves how totally blinded he is. The ramifications are huge and we’re playing noughts and crosses with a 2 year old who can’t write
Our chair @amcarmichaelMP reacts to this afternoon’s @commonsLiaison session, where he questioned the Prime Minister on changes to inheritance tax for farmers.
Today at the #LiaisonCommittee, @CommonsEFRA Chair @amcarmichaelMP asked the PM about the #FamilyFarmTax:
1.) Who were the targets of these changes?
2.) Are HMT's figures robust, given so many have said they aren't?
3.) Will the Chancellor meet farming representatives?

New data on farms and inheritance tax: a third of farm estates over £1.5m aren’t farmers but wealthy people avoiding IHT by sinking money into farmland.
The Budget hits farmers too hard and tax avoiders too lightly. It needs to change.
🧵Yesterday, the House of Lords debated the continuity of farming families. We are grateful to Baroness Northover for calling the debate and to all Peers who raised concerns about the #FamilyFarmTax 1/10
Farmers from the East have taken to the streets of London to protest at the government's changes to inheritance tax.
They say the plans announced in the Budget could see farmers left with no choice but to sell up - though the government insists the changes will only affect a minority of farmers.
📺Full report:
What a day in London - So much passion for British food and the countryside - the current governments plans demonstrate how they just don’t care. @Keir_Starmer@RachelReevesMP - we need this sorting, your political legacy, our nations food, the rural economy is at stake.
Far too often, we just put our heads down, no matter what card we are dealt and get on with the job of feeding the world. @10DowningStreet and @RachelReevesMP have stabbed the farmers in the back and woken the sleeping dragon. See you in London tomorrow #StoptheFamilyFarmTax
