A P O L O G Y? Basically, @PieterDuToit and your colleagues are admitting that you were NOT reporting objectively? And we knew it vele. We confronted @News24 and we told @SAEditorsForum but nobody cared. The country was at risk, dangerous narratives were being manufactured by these embedded journalists but still @SAEditorsForum and @PressCouncil_SA kept quiet. When Gen Mkhwanazi proposed a clean-up, y'all were frothing on your mouths defending embedded journalism. Today these bogus journalists are apologizing for abandoning the basic journalistic principles and taking Andrea Johnson's side. How do you explain getting things so fundamentally wrong if basic principles of journalism were being followed? Journalism requires that: ■facts must be checked against reliable sources; ■documents must be scrutinised and corroborated; ■allegations must be tested; and ■reporting should distinguish clearly between fact, allegation, inference and opinion. These ones based their reportibg ob on one-sided sources or assumptions rather than independently verified facts and documentary evidence. Where were the journalistic principles of accuracy, verification, fairness and objectivity @CowansView @PieterDuToit @Abrammashego @karynmaughan etc? And if those principles were followed, how did you get it so spectacularly wrong? We only take apologies fir minor editorial errors, NOT this. You guys lack patriotic journalism. We have so many questions about the quality, methodology and integrity of your reporting itself.
