HOLD THE LINE, MOMS!
Nurse the baby in public, bring the toddler to the restaurant, bring the baby on the plane, take the extra minute at the register, exist in public with your children.
You’re a mom, yes you are special.
But...all of this is gentle parenting. 🤷♀️
What has happened somewhere in the last few years is that people have conflated gentle parenting and permissive parenting.
Permissive parenting is what people who criticize gentle parenting are actually criticizing.
And also, some parents who are actually parenting permissively are calling it "gentle parenting", which gives it a bad reputation.
However, they are two very distinct parenting styles - it's a shame they are conflated so often.
Gentle parenting doesn't mean you let the children run roughshod over the entire family and have no boundaries or consequences. It simply means their consequences are non-violent and you don't rely on or model hitting them, verbal abuse, shame, or out of proportion punitive means to teach or discipline them.
That said, because of this conflation - I tend to refer to it as non-violent parenting now.
@JulieLovesFluff If she wants something modern that other girls her age will have read but also clean and age appropriate then have her read the selection series! I read it when I was 11 and re read it all through my teen years!
Hating babies is a deep character flaw. Babies aren’t some separate species of beings. It’s a phase of life every living adult has endured. If you can’t even respect the various phases of life, something is wrong with you.
it’s unfortunate that many women believe that women will choose to labor unmedicated for simply the “medal” or bragging rights instead of understanding the true prize (and the reasons to do it unmedicated) being a smoother recovery, lower risk of 3rd/4th degree tearing, lower risk of needing vacuum or forceps, the ability to move around during and after birth, peeing without a catheter, your natural flow of hormones following labor are not disrupted and allow for best baby bonding and breastfeeding outcomes, less swelling, avoiding possible long-term complications like chronic pain and nerve damage, and the many more benefits.
so yes, you should be proud of yourself for enduring the worst now for you and your baby’s benefit later.
Board games, coloring, and even playing a game boy are not the same thing as placing an iPad in front of your child every moment they are bored while in public
Ppl been shoving things in front of kids for centuries in public. When I was a kid it was the little peg games at Cracker Barrel, or coloring pages, my parents would even allow me to bring my GameBoy in a restaurant from time to time.
As it turns out, working half the day full time and then getting your kid from school and then helping them manage their homework and then getting them dressed for sports practice and getting them to the practice field and helping runs drills with them and helping them manage their chore list and taking them to church events and volunteering since you have to be there anyway and all that stuff gets exhausting and restaurants are the one place you and the kid can both just sit, relax, and let someone else take care of you for a few minutes while you disengage.
Don’t shame parents.
If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.
As I've been saying, if you willingly relinquish your mental abilities, you will lose them. The fact that millions of people seem eager to give up their intellects, to be freed from the burden of ever having to think or create, is a nightmare out of our darkest science fictions.
