Sit-ups…
Many incorrectly do core exercises in the hope they will help reduce body fat from around their stomach. But…
You do not speed up the rate of fat loss from a specific area of your body by training the muscles beneath them.
Much of my time coaching is spent unraveling distorted beliefs around:
1️⃣ Weight loss
2️⃣ Carbohydrates
3️⃣ Particularly bread
4️⃣ Exercising for weight loss
5️⃣ Body shape expectations
Clearing up these topics drastically reduces obsessions around food, exercise, & body image.

Exercise is great, but…
Doing so in a poorly nourished and under-slept state is counterproductive to health and body composition.
Creating a foundation of adequate nutrition and sleep should be your priority before stepping into the gym.
As a culture we celebrate weight loss.
But what have you lost?
Fat? Muscle? That morning poo? A limb? 🤷🏻♀️
Many seek it when they don’t need it. Some achieve it due to a high starting BF%. It shouldn’t be an assumed goal.
The Fitness Industry:
Throws around generic “12 week plans” marketed heavily on your own body insecurities ❌
What most actually need is education, layering up habitual change through self compassion and a focus on improving health ✅
Ladies, tracking your menstrual cycle can:
1️⃣ Give you an insight into your metabolic and hormonal health.
2️⃣ Allow you to predict changes in mood, eating behaviours, energy, and body image within different phases.
Promoting self-compassion and empowerment! 🙋🏼♀️
Things that don’t make you a bad person: eating cake & pizza. 🍕
Things that do make you a bad person: stealing Grandma’s handbag.
Learn to separate your food choices from your sense of self. 😊

Realising that your current nutritional believes are probably based off incorrect information online…
Can allow you to be ok with reevaluating them as new, evidence based, information is presented to you.
Real change can then begin with this acceptance. 👊

“But weight loss is simple”
Influencing factors:
genetic predisposition, psychological/behavioural state, social parameters, economic constraints, family dynamics, work, and disease.
It is not simple.
Taking a long run-up 🏃🏽♀️
Instead of trying to flip your lifestyle overnight.
Think, where could your behaviours around nutrition and exercise be in 6-12 months?
Let small changes compound.
The following tools have their place:
1️⃣ food tracking apps
2️⃣ weighing scales
3️⃣ calorie calculators
The problem is most aren’t educated how to use them appropriately, with the right context, or how to wean off them.
Simply put, unless you have an allergy, diagnosed intolerance, or it is for religious reasons…
…absolutely NO FOOD or drink should be off the menu.
Moderation of less nutritious foods gets better results than removal of them.
Is it time to stop exercising and eating through punishment?
Life is hard enough. You’re probably hard enough on yourself as it is.
Try and enjoy exercise and improving your nutrition as a way of serving your health. Not through a distaste of how you look. 💛
I’m not saying it will be easy. I’m not saying it will be at a level you’d ideally like.
But gradually building in an approach up to a level that is sustainable for your own imperfect life should be your goal.
For your nutrition/exercise to become a lifestyle, it has to work within all parts of your life.
Social, parenthood, work, holidays, etc. Consistency not perfection allows for such things.
