Strength is not something you 'do'. It appears when the body is exercised. We can call this type of exercise a 'work out'.
Meditation is not something you 'do'. It appears when the focus is exercised. We can call this type of exercise 'Focus Work'.
You keep busy because stillness makes 'you' feel exposed.
That's the ego avoiding stillness. In stillness there is 'no-thing' and the ego requires things to stay in control, so it tells you its unsafe.
What happens if you stay still, let the ego yell, and don't listen to it?
Forgiveness isn't excusing.
Forgiveness is ending the cycle of pain
The pain of the memories,
the pain of the blame,
the pain of your thoughts,
the pain inflicted on you.
Hold on to the pain and you’ll pass it on.
Forgiveness isn’t weakness. Forgiveness is freedom.
The level of love in your life is directly connected to your harmful habits.
To uncover and shift your harmful habits, relentlessly focus on this one thing.
The tone of voice you use with yourself.
Anything less than a gentle tone is a harmful habit. Watch what happens.
Listening doesn't require thinking.
Planning your answer isn't listening, its planning.
Wondering why they're wearing that shirt isn't listening, its wondering.
Doubting your understanding is listening, its doubting.
Listening is listening. And it's a friend of meditation.
You replay conversations because you’re trying to rewrite how you were seen.
That’s the ego fixing its reflection, protecting its image because it must appear as 'good'.
What happens if the conversation doesn't change, if you let it stay imperfect?
Where your focus flows, success grows.
An unfit focus will think it's focused on A when it really focused on B.
Most of us think we're getting successful at A...but are already successful at B.
You have your version of success.
The ego has either:
• corrupted it
• distracted you from it
To see the corruption & the distraction, you must have a fit focus.
This is what Focus Work gives you.
When you are focus fit, your success flows naturally, unattached to the ego.
Is watching the whole sunset through the filter of the camera phone, actually seeing it? Our thoughts are another filter.
Can you look without naming, judging...without filtering? Look at a cup, each time a thought arises (cup, glass, drink etc), silently say 'that's thinking'.
You over explain yourself because you want to be understood. That’s the ego protecting its image.
Notice what happens when you let yourself be misunderstood.
Today, let one person misunderstand you...and do nothing to correct it.
Observe what that brings up inside.
You’ve spent years trying to become someone. What happens when you stop improving and start observing?
For the rest of today, drop every self-improvement thought. Just observe what remains.
Maybe you'll get a glimpse of Being instead of becoming.
Treat your judgement, bitterness, frustration, self doubt etc like a curtain.
This curtain is hiding the real fear driving your behaviour. It hides because if it's seen, it no longer has power.
Most of us don't even see the curtain. Start by noticing judgement as a 'curtain'.
It's normal to not come across as needy by pretending you're fine when you're actually hurt.
It's not you, it's the ego's need to look good.
Explore this by asking 👇🏻
"What happens if I'm seen as needy?" and notice what's happening in the body before the mask goes on.
