Or how about this: instead of a long time alcoholic or drug addict, someone who comes to the ED with a one time use/overdose of heroin, or someone who got alcohol poisoning from over-drinking one time. They know those things are bad, no? We still treat them.

So with the same logic: if you don’t trust medical experts enough to follow their advice and not be an alcoholic or drug addict, don’t take their time away from someone else at the hospital when you have medical issues. 🙄🙄🙄

@merbear_lee Yes, I agree. But, never in healthcare have we not cared for someone because of choices they have made. We care for all who want to be cared for. Trust me, I do not always agree with my patients’ choices, but at the end of the day it’s my job to care for them.
