AI needs more than powerful models It needs better data The DATA Foundation moving to @SuiNetwork is an interesting step toward that future.
$30M strategic investment from Sui Foundation
250M+ receipts recorded by Trace
Walrus becoming the default storage @datafdn
DATA is coming to @SuiNetwork.
The DATA Network and Trace are joining the Sui stack, bringing a live supply of rights-cleared AI training data to infrastructure built for AI workloads.
With 250M+ receipts already recorded by Trace, AI labs will be able to source real-world data with verifiable provenance, while @WalrusProtocol provides the underlying storage layer.
Sui Foundation is investing $30 million in the DATA Network, establishing the largest institutional stake in the network, alongside the continuing holdings of PIP Labs and the DATA Foundation. Furthering the alignment, SY Lee, founder of the DATA Network and CEO of PIP Labs, joins Sui Foundation as Strategic Advisor.
In the coming months:
โธ The DATA Network will be upgraded to run as a protocol natively on Sui
โธ Walrus becomes the default storage layer for DATA Foundation apps
โธ $DATA remains the token of the DATA protocol
The next chapter of DATA starts here.

Physical AI needs egocentric data: what humans actually see, hear, and do in the real world.
And itโs some of the hardest, most valuable data to source, making it the holy grail of IP.
The alpha exists in the real world.
Value is migrating toward provenance.
We believe the next era of AI will be defined not just by collecting more data, but by proving where it came from.

Physical AI is quickly becoming one of the biggest stories in tech.
As robots move beyond controlled environments and into the real world, the need for high-quality real-world data grows with them.
@jacobmtucker on why that matters โ
Here's what a verifiable AI training data record looks like in production.
A walkthrough of what Trace surfaces, what stays confidential, and what an AI lab can actually do with it โ
The DATA Network is onboarding audit receipts for hundreds of broadcast programs from Maryland Public Television, one of the largest statewide networks in the PBS family.
For more than 50 years, MPT has produced award-winning programming across science, nature, crime, history, education, and local storytelling, earning 211 Capital Emmy Awards alongside multiple national Emmys.
This marks another major catalog being brought into the transparent AI data economy through the DATA Network x @useKled partnership.
As the catalog's exclusive AI licensing partner, Kled is onboarding it to Trace, where its provenance, licensing permissions, and usage history can be independently verified before it is licensed to AI labs.
We're entering an era where governments, public institutions, and major media organizations are licensing their archives to AI companies. Transparent proof of authorization will become increasingly important, and those records will live on the DATA Network.
The definition of "rare data" is in flux.
Online content โ rare (it's been scraped)
Technical datasets โ rare (again, scraped)
Trustworthy human data = rare (can't be scraped)
Proving that rarity is now critical.
@jacobmtucker breaks down how receipts work on Trace โ
Over 100 million registrations in less than 30 days of launch.
That's 100+ million permanent legal receipts for AI training data created on Trace.
So far:
โธ 105M registrations
โธ 171k contributors
โธ 170 TB of data audited
โธ $57k chain fees
The @datafdn has onboarded 87.5M records from data collection apps like @useKled
I believe that every single company in the future will have a data monetization arm even if they aren't intentionally in this space
When they go to sell that data, frontier labs will look for an audit report covering the dataset
Did data contributors KYC, were they paid, etc
This is exactly what we're building with Trace, the public AI audit ledger
... and every single data registration is a transaction on the $DATA Network
We're currently sitting at #18 overall by chain fees,
