Kwale County Firm Contracted by Ministry of Water Accused of Exploiting Workers
A group of employees working for a firm contracted by the Ministry of Water for the Mwache Dam project in Kwale County have raised serious concerns about being unpaid for up to a year despite working for six straight months without any compensation.
The employees, many of whom have signed contracts with Frontman Consultancy are struggling financially and some even taking loans to sustain themselves while continuing to work under the hope of eventual payment but have seen no relief as the firm continuously promises payment "next week."
"Hello Nyakundi kindly hide my ID.. help me expose a consultant firm given a contract by the Ministry of Water under the Mwache Dam project in Kwale County. The firm goes by the name Frontman Consultancy and despite its employees turning up for work day in day out for 6 straight months now, no one has been paid, not even a shilling. Some employees have not been paid for close to 1 year now, yet they are very strict on people coming to work and laying people off, especially when you try to raise a concern. So imagine 6 months with no pay yet you are implementing a World Bank project (the Mwache Dam project) through the Ministry of Water in this current economy. Help me call out those frauds because itβs a family business and they have employed their relatives who apparently are getting paid while the rest who have no relationship are busy suffering. The firm is in Kwale County, Kasemeni.
Whenever you ask for payment, it's always "next week, next week"... until you get tired. Yet people signed contracts, and some employees have taken loans to go to work with the hope that they would be paid, but where is it? Things are really tough."
