Sky News reports that a 28-year-old Palestinian woman, six months pregnant and suffering severe internal bleeding, was being transported from Qaryout in the occupied West Bank to Rafidia Surgical Hospital in Nablus when Israeli soldiers stopped her ambulance at the Awarta checkpoint.
Video shows Israeli forces detained the ambulance crew for more than 30 minutes, subjected the bleeding, critically ill woman to a physical search, and ordered the driver to turn off the engine, cutting power to the vehicle’s onboard medical equipment.
During the forced delay, a nurse was forced to deliver the fetus stillborn inside the stranded ambulance. The woman was eventually allowed to proceed to the hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery and saved her life. The baby could not be saved.
Congratulations to Ms. Kennedy for her stellar work in transforming a franchise whose releases used to mark epochs in pop fiction into a straight-to-streaming dumpster dive that no one will touch anymore.
BREAKING: German courts just decided the Iraqi migrant who pushed 16-year-old Liana to her death in front of a train in Freidland will serve no prison time after he was determined to be suffering from “ill mental health”.
Instead, he will spend time at a psychiatric facility at taxpayers' expense, and will not be deported.
"Due to a diagnosis of schizophrenia, the accused was deemed not criminally responsible at the time of the offense," prosecutors stated. (Source @RMXnews)
Spoke on background with two attorneys who have defended officer involved shootings.
Both have always taken their cases to trial.
After reviewing the events today, both said if it were their client they’d advise:
-Seek a plea deal
-Be willing to plead guilty to a lesser crime or a lower sentence
-Accept anything that isn’t de jure LWOP (life with out parole)
In other words, the guys who defend police officers shooting for a living, think this case is unwinnable.
They would try to defend his actions, they’d just try and lower the impact of the outcome.
Their main sticking point were:
-“I could argue shot number one and hope for an acquittal or a hung jury - but I can’t get there on shots 2 and 3”
-“A jury will not get passed the turning of the wheels”
-“Denying medics throws self defense out the window”
Will’s had a nightmare… 0 correct and a big fat -10 😬
