More weight or more reps for building muscle and strength?

Early in a resistance training program, it doesn’t really matter.

Previously untrained young men and women had similar gains in muscle size and strength when lifting more weight or doing more reps (with the same weight) over 10 weeks.

More reason to keep things simple when getting started.
