@hopelessbulgar@georgePilled I think that's why he's completely consumed by nihilism. Hard to believe in Marxist prescriptions after doing full seasons about how unions and education and media are failing institutions
@Denzelw123_123@elladorn_ He's done great work in that arena, but the idea that it's why anyone likes him rather than a convenient argument against any haters, idk. Always feels a bit "Martin Scorsese? The New York film archivist?"
@Daenakins1@prince4_shadow@fir3andbl00d Ned and Robert hadn't seen each other in a decade+ by AGoT. I think the North kinda ran its own show between the Targaryens and Ned getting beheaded, which took things from "well I guess that's settled" to "oh this is just going to keep happening to us if we don't secede"
@you_duba@MaceAhWindu Well, a lot of people see cheating as less of a personal issue within a relationship and more as a character flaw that reflects a deeper lack of integrity. Like, if they betrayed their own wife what's stopping them from lying to the public
It's really hard to understand how incredibly quaint drinking one hard seltzer a night sounds until you've shared a bathroom with someone who would wake up and drink from a handle of Vlad until they had seizures
I drink regularly, and I hang around a lot of people who drink regularly. You can call what we do alcoholism, and honestly I think it'd be mostly fair. But none of that prepared me for living with an alcoholic who was just going for it
I used to drink about 4 12-packs/week and I still wasn’t an alcoholic. The average person has absolutely no idea how much alcoholics drink. You wouldn’t believe.
@chuck1869463950@Gerhard78913643@Slime5ZN@RedFrontTweeter The idea that vassalage turns the vassal into a completely inert tool that exercises no agency is not and has never been true. There's always some give and take, especially when the vassal is powerful or otherwise politically important
@chuck1869463950@Gerhard78913643@Slime5ZN@RedFrontTweeter There's like a third of Fahrenheit 9/11 dedicated to Bush's ties to the Saudis. A Senator from NJ just got bounced like last year for hiding Egyptian gold bricks in his house
@MWNostradamus@isaiah_bb I understand it may not have been exciting for you, but you were in the minority on that. The "unoriginal" critique has calcified over time, but I always found it kind of a goofy knock on TFA when the original trilogy was so self-consciously tropey
I thibk theaters would do better if they just leaned into the modern need to get your shit in and make yourself the star of the show. Half the screenings should explicitly be for people who want to yell chicken jockey
