Sam: the Soul of Halloween

Official account for Sam: The Soul of Halloween, created by @mike_dougherty. Have no fear, there is no need, he is but a grown up pumpkin seed.

30 years ago, a strange little trick-or-treater named Sam stepped out of the shadows and into our hearts. This October, he’s finally coming home. All month long we'll be conjuring new animation, art, screenings & more from the creepy little fella who started it all.

36 DAYS TILL HALLOWEEN

[Sam: the Soul of Halloween @SamofHalloween]

Sam is headed to the @BrooklynHorror Film Festival on Friday, October 16 at 9:15pm for a very special Halloween double bill.

First up: the newly restored SEASON’S GREETINGS (1996), the original handmade animated short where Sam first wandered from the shadows, celebrating its 30th anniversary on the big screen.

Then: TRICK ’R TREAT on 35mm, followed by a conversation with writer/director @Mike_Dougherty about the films, Sam, and 30 years of Halloween mischief.

Before 'TRICK ‘R TREAT,' there was 'SEASON’S GREETINGS.'

Nearly 30 years after Sam’s debut, Michael Dougherty has beautifully restored the animated short that started it all.
