Since September of last year, multiple brands have repeatedly reached out to the company with proposals for commercial collaborations with Miyawaki Sakura. Yet, these inquiries were met with silence, without any response.
Despite this lack of communication, the brands did not withdraw their interest. Instead, they attempted to make contact again through the Japanese management side, only to be told that “approval from SOURCE is required.” After that, there was still no follow-up, no feedback, and no resolution from SOURCE MUSIC side.
Just yesterday, after exhausting various alternative channels, a brand finally succeeded in contacting the company once more and formally submitted an event proposal. After an extended period of waiting, the only response they received was a brief statement that the proposal was “not suitable” — without a single substantive discussion, without a clear explanation, and without any indication of sincere consideration.
This leads us to ask:
To what extent must a company fail in its professional responsibilities for a brand to be forced to bypass standard business channels and reach out to a fan site in the hope of conveying its collaboration intent with SAKURA?
If the company is unable to fulfill even the most basic responsibility of acknowledging proposals and providing timely responses, then one must question: whom the frequently cited notions of “protecting the artist” and “long-term planning” are truly meant to serve — and whose interests are actually being prioritized.
Fans are not demanding that every proposal be accepted. What we are asking for is professional and timely communication. This is a basic form of respect — for the artist, for the brands involved, and for the fans who have consistently supported her.
