Cambodia stresses importance of UNSC resolutions, inviolability of ICJ judgements

Cambodia has reiterated that UN Security Council resolutions are essential for the peaceful settlement of disputes and the prevention and de-escalation of conflicts and must be fully implemented.

Ambassador Keo Chhea, permanent representative of Cambodia to the UN, shared the government’s position while addressing the June 23 UNSC Arria-Formula meeting on “Bridging the implementation gap: Security Council resolutions and the maintenance of international peace and security”.

He also noted that like UNSC resolutions, judgments of the International Court of Justice, given their legally binding nature, must not be violated under any pretext whatsoever.
