Arnold Schwarzenegger says he made more than $40 million from Twins.
His salary for the movie? $0.
When Andy Cohen asks which film earned him the biggest paycheck, Arnold names the comedy he made with Danny DeVito.
He explains that they took no salary. The deal gave them ownership and a piece of the back end.
Cohen asks whether Arnold made more than $20 million.
“Oh, yeah. Much more.”
So he raises the number: more than $40 million?
“It was more than that.”
Arnold never gives the exact figure. But he makes clear where Twins ranks among all the movies in his career:
“It was more than in any movie I’ve ever made.”
Steve Harvey says he owed the IRS $22 million for taxes he thought he’d already paid.
In 2008, after his accountant died, an employee found seven years of Harvey’s signed tax forms and checks still sitting in the office. Harvey says money had been leaving his account, so he believed the payments were going through. His lawyer told him the returns had never been filed.
With penalties, the bill reached $22 million.
Harvey recalls accidentally joining a conference call about the debt and hearing someone ask what they would do when he went to jail. He hung up, went upstairs and told his wife, Marjorie. She cried for two days.
When she asked what he would do, he told her: “I’m going to go to work.”
He says he took every comedy gig he could, worked every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and sent $650,000 a month to the government for four years while keeping up with his current taxes.
In 2012, he says he sold 49% of his radio company. He used the check to clear the remaining debt.
“And that was the first time, man, I could breathe.”
