A man who was on the verge of collapsing arrived in the city to visit his brother, only to find his phone switched off. Left stranded, he was forced to begin a grueling journey on foot, until Sam Mutinda, a biker, stepped in with a life-saving act of kindness.

Received a progress brief on the Kenya Home of Human Origins Museum and Science Park project that is set to be established in the Lake Turkana Basin.

Spearheaded by a presidential taskforce and the National Museums of Kenya, the project aims at transforming the region into a global centre for research, preservation of heritage and eco-tourism.

Planned for Kalokol area, a central place between Turkana and Marsabit counties, the project will help in the repatriation of 32,000 Kenyan heritage collections across the world.

At the local level, the community will benefit from the provision of water for people and livestock, boosting of security, digital connectivity, development of infrastructure, improvement of health and educational facilities, and renovation of existing museums, among others.

Turkana region has been at the centre of groundbreaking archeological discoveries over the years, including the 1.6 million years old Turkana Boy and the oldest stone tools used by the Early Man.

Later,today I engaged professionals from across Bungoma County at Kibabii University to discuss the region's development priorities and the important role they can play in accelerating socio-economic transformation.

Professionals are a valuable asset in the development of any society. Their knowledge, skills and experience help strengthen institutions, support enterprise, create jobs, attract investment and improve service delivery.

I encouraged them to use their expertise, networks and influence to advance innovation, strengthen partnerships across sectors and position Bungoma as a competitive hub for enterprise, value addition and inclusive growth.

Present were Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, Deputy Governor Jeniffer Mbatiany,Principal Secretaries Dr Beatrice Inyangala, Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok, Harry Kimtai, Dr Juma Mukhwana and Dr Jane Imbunya; Prof. Edward Kisiang'ani and Harriet Chiggai, Kibabii University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, alongside leaders and professionals from across Bungoma region.

This morning, I joined the Kaburwo Nandi Council of Elders for a breakfast meeting ahead of the formal installation of their newly elected Chairman,Mzee, Augustine Kisorio.

The Council brings together elders from across the Rift Valley region of Kenya, as well as Uganda and Tanzania, alongside representatives of the wider Kalenjin community.

Councils of elders remain important custodians of our values, culture and social cohesion. Their leadership helps preserve our rich heritage, foster peaceful coexistence and strengthen community participation in national development.

I wish the incoming leadership every success as they take up this important responsibility, and pray that they will be guided by God's grace as they serve the community and preserve our rich cultural heritage.

Joined the Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff @koske_felix , to celebrate and honour Dr. Manu Chandaria , OBE, CBS, EBS, who was recognized for his remarkable philanthropy programmes by His Excellency Dr. @WilliamsRuto , C.G.H., at the 2025 Mashujaa Day.

Dr. Chandaria’s life and works embodies the very spirit of heroism we honour today. Through the Chandaria Foundation, he has impacted the society in education, health, arts and culture, environment, community outreach and entrepreneurship. For more than six decades, his foundation has played a pivotal role in inspiring generations both in Kenya and beyond. In the Arts and Culture sector he has helped nurture talent and creativity through the Chandaria Centre for Performing Arts at the University of Nairobi.

Together with the Deputy Governor, Dr. @_ochiengowilii , we presided over the official signing of the IPA between the @museumsofkenya , @KisumuCountyKE and @IGRTC_KE , marking a significant milestone in the operationalization of the handover of the Kisumu Museum to the County Government of Kisumu.

This development follows the transfer of the museum function, together with its attendant resources, to county government in accordance with the fourth schedule of the constitution on devolution, reaffirming our commitment to deepening devolution and strengthening the management of cultural heritage at the local level.

Also present were IGRTC Chairman, CPA Kithinji Kiragu; NMK chairman , Mr. Edwin Abonyo; NMK DG, Prof. Mary Gikungu; County officials and NMK staff.

At the invitation of the French Embassy, I attended a breakfast meeting that was co-hosted by H.E. @arnaud_suquet , Ambassador of France to Kenya, and @SingoeiAKorir , Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Also in attendance was PS Elijah Mwangi (Sports).

Our discussions centered on the upcoming Africa-France Summit themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnership for Innovation and Growth,” which Kenya will jointly host with France on 11th–12th May, 2026 in Nairobi.

The summit will culminate in the Africa Forward concert as the official cultural closing event, bringing together leading artists from across the continent to perform before audiences of Heads of State, senior government officials, business leaders, as well as prominent figures from the creative industries across Africa and Europe.

Culture and Arts continue to be effective tools of diplomacy in establishing stronger ties among countries.

Today, I received a courtesy call from the @Cronyproduction team, comprising exceptionally talented artists like Nick Kwach, Dennis Ndenga, Betty Nyatuga, Cyprian Osoro and Victor Nyaata, whose commitment to performing arts continues to inspire and entertain Kenyans.

Our discussions centered on supporting performing arts and strengthening the partnership between Artists across the country and the State Department for Culture, Arts and Heritage. This collaboration is essential to unlocking the full potential of arts in creating sustainable employment thereby positioning it as a key driver of Kenya’s transformation.

Kenya and Egypt enjoy long standing history and cordial diplomatic and cultural relations marked by mutual respect and shared heritage.

Today, I had the pleasure of hosting the Ambassador of Egypt to Kenya, H.E Hatem Hosni, and senior embassy officials for a courtesy visit at my office. In our discussion , we explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in promotion of cultural exchange, heritage protection as well as advancing shared cultural interests between our two nations.

This engagement reaffirms our mutual commitment to Pan-Africanism through deepening people to people ties and leveraging cultural and heritage as a strong pillar of bilateral cooperation.

The State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage plays a pivotal role in the implementation of knowledge management by safeguarding, preserving and, promoting Kenya’s cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible aspects.

This mandate extends to fostering knowledge-driven culture, ensuring that cultural knowledge is effectively managed and utilized for national development and cultural sustainability.

In this regard, today, together with the PS for Economic Planning, @BonfaceBMakokha, we oversaw the official handover of the Knowledge Management functions from the State Department for Economic Planning to the State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage.

Today, I hosted basketball star @Jamaaad , the founder of Jamad Basketball Camps , at my office. We discussed the interconnected and vital role of sports and culture in nurturing talents, instilling discipline and expanding opportunities for young people in line with the Bottom-up economic transformation Agenda.

We also explored avenues of collaboration especially in leveraging culture and sports to empower young girls, supporting the growth of their talents while maintaining the traditions they hold near and dear to them.
