Yes, you acquire knowledge through both. But acquiring knowledge is one thing; having that knowledge rigorously tested, independently validated, and formally recognised is another. That’s what gives a university degree its distinct value.
If someone learns everything required for a university degree through free online courses, what exactly are they missing that makes the degree certificate valuable?
As data grows, spending more on compute isn’t always the answer. Sometimes, the architecture just needs to change.
I documented how I redesigned my NYC311 data pipeline, identified bottlenecks, and cut PowerBI refresh time by ~96%.

23M rows and growing.
From ~5hrs PowerBI refresh to ~12mins then to 1min daily refresh.
I built a pipeline around NYC’s public 311 data to answer a question I think every PowerBI developer eventually has to face:
What happens when your “nice dashboard” meets real data volume?

“Your performance in a difficult environment is the evidence that gets you out of it.”
This is profound. And learn to articulate what you’ve achieved despite your environment. Your story, told well, can get you out of rooms you’ve outgrown and into rooms you never imagined.
I still remember a 3-man panel at McKinsey’s YLP giving me a standing ovation during an interview simply because I explained how we survived some funny days in school 😂
100% well-written article. 👍
Ownership is not a feeling. It's a decision.
Most people treat their standards as a response to their environment performing when conditions are good, pulling back when they're not.
I've built my entire career on the opposite principle. https://t.co/YUIkXbvZAz
Not me 😂. Meeting some of the “best” from across Nigeria at Uni only made me appreciate my Agége roots and my Labasco teachers even more. And these were the days when UI admission was by oral exam, not written o. God is good 😂
Well done 👏
Now turn those JOINs into a project recruiters can see.
Pick data from NBS, CBN or the World Bank. Stage it in SQL/PostgreSQL, uncover insights, build a solid Power BI dashboard and add it to your portfolio.
It’ll stretch you, but that’s how you grow. 🚀
Data analytics streak Day 63 🔥
Today I moved from INNER JOIN to LEFT JOIN, and surprisingly, I found it easier.
I think spending a lot of time practicing INNER JOIN really helped.

Dear @NigeriaGov and @inecnigeria,
If this can be seamless, real voting should be too.
Nigerians deserve an electoral process that is simple, secure, transparent, and stress-free.
What’s stopping us?🇳🇬
@tosinolaseinde True, but harvesting relative volatility like he’s done still leaves you exposed to regime changes, persistent trends, seasonality and unpredictable market shocks. So yeah, maths improves decision making; it does not guarantee wealth

You don’t need another Data Analytics, Data Engineering or Data Science course. You need just 2-3 solid projects that you can confidently explain in an interview.
Build one end-to-end pipeline, understand its architecture, data flow, failure handling, scalability and monitoring.
This is the point: the world is producing fewer children as fertility rates decline, while the large cohorts already born, especially those aged 65+ in developed countries, are living longer, largely due to better healthcare and improved living conditions.
