@pauljadam I started coding one last year but didn’t finish it... I’ll dig it back up and see if I can finish it. The screen is blank, but all content is only reachable through keyboard and screen readers...
I used @ajlkn's https://t.co/bY3qvmYiYf for the landing page, @Mailchimp & @Mail_Gun for emails and @Namecheap for the domain. Total cost: $8.88. Took inspiration from @NomadList as the whole thing started as a crowdsourced spreadsheet. #bootstrapped
Interesting changes since I've gotten older (though not "old" ... yet):
- All nighters 👉 Early mornings
- 12-hour marathons randomly hacking on stuff 👉 3-hour sprints focused on specific tasks
- Half-assing a bunch of projects 👉 Whole-assing just a few
Kinda digging it tbh
Imagine if everyone with a computer realized they already have a dev environment (browser + text editor) and all the knowledge in the world to do something with it (www)
Nothing fulfills you like constantly creating
Nothing hollows you out like constantly consuming
I've said variations of this before but having just experienced both extremes in the last week, I've never been more convinced of its truth so protip:
GO
MAKE
THINGS
thx
@robdel12 Like you mentioned we are outweighing the costs of building our own, but we can't rely on Chrome and IE fixing this #a11y in terms of time. It just weird when the native elements don't meet #a11y reqs.
@robdel12 You touched on a point we're just going over in my team... the select system dialog. I always hear to code semantic html/native elements, but what do you do when the <option> :checked backgorund color doesn't have wcag-AA compliant color contrast?
@robdel12 Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate this podcast. It's a great intro to current a11y practices and issues. However i do have a question...
@robdel12 On a similar note, I recently noticed how Atom parses the merge conflicts and makes them clickable/selectable. Way easier to fix them! I actually had to remind myself that MCs should still be avoided lol
