Aren’t You the Valet? Tales of Black American Surgeons | NEJM Today, in the US, it is as if there are 2 different scripts being loudly declaimed trying to drown each other out. The escalating chant “BLM” is countered by … cancel culture & White supremacy. https://t.co/3VKmh4OD5H
Thank you to STS and President Dr. Thomas MacGillivray for a definitive and clear stand supporting our values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in cardiothoracic surgery @STS_CTsurgery
Amazing #Herstory being made- congratulations @UChicago!
And please understand the important backstory- it took a new female Athletic Director, Angie Torain, with the courage and vision to hire another woman, Julianne Sitch, to coach the men’s soccer team.

That’s a wrap! Thanks to the team at the University of Chicago @tzakrison @mihirjaychaudh @drksgh @anthonyDDouglas @samueloseiMD@DrMaryToya for moderating another great #AASChat. Join us next month, Friday, Nov. 11th as we discuss “Advocacy as an Academic Surgeon” Good night!
@AcademicSurgery We should lead by example. start by educating our successors, mentor them, and practice what we teach. Others will follow our lead. #AASChat
@drksgh I think we should have a combination of both. The curriculum to give is the foundation and mentorship to translate what we learn from the curriculum into real life practice. #AASChat
@mjkimmd@AcademicSurgery Great point @mjkimmd do you think our current surgery training curriculum prepares us enough to tackle these issues in our practice? #AASChat
@tzakrison @mihirjaychaudh Thanks
