“I want to be a world champion even at 100!”
These are the words of Karunnapan Venkatesan, the 𝟰𝟵-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 who just won a world championship without drugs, supplements, or even milk.
A Hyderabad-based vegan who isn’t just winning trophies, but also dismantling decades of diet 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 “𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵.”
Myths like:
“You need milk for calcium and strong bones.”
“Plant protein can’t build muscle.”
“Animal protein is healthier.”
This is when major studies have repeatedly shown that 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹.
Many plant foods offer equal or even better calcium absorption.
In fact, countries with the highest dairy consumption often have 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀.
Yet, like many of us, Venkatesan heard the same old lines all his life:
“Everybody told me it’s impossible. They asked, ‘𝗔𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸?’
But I don’t believe in hurting any living being.
𝗪𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲, my conscience must be clean.”
---------------------
This reminds us of what 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 often says:
“Veganism is, in its true sense, Love.
And it can arise only from the realisation that ‘𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱’ at the cost of other creatures’ suffering is a huge illusion.”
Stories like this matter because they redefine what strength, compassion, and health look like.
And today, we need such stories to 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿.
“Madam gave us water, but they took her away", a villager said.
That one sentence speaks more about our system than a thousand reports ever could.
This is the story of IAS officer Divya Mital, who ensured drinking water for a village that spent 𝟳𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗽 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿
But she did it quietly, no grand inauguration, no ribbon-cutting, no political optics.
And apparently, that 𝘂𝗽𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻.
Soon after, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱.
The pipelines built during her tenure were reportedly vandalised.
And just like that, the village slipped back into 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀and uncertainty.
Sadly, this is not about one officer or one government.
Infact not long ago, we shared the story of IAS officer Ashok Khemka, a 1991-batch officer known for questioning irregularities.
He has been 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟱𝟬 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, roughly once every seven months.
Absurd, right?
Yet this pattern unfolds across the country.
-----------------------------
This is why 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 often says:
you cannot change the system merely by being inside it.
The system changes only when the people running it are first inwardly healed.
If the 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 and 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 remains unchanged, then all actions arising from that centre will keep producing the same outcomes, no matter who sits where.
And that is the real crisis we rarely talk about.
Compare these two photos and you’ll see why the world feels off-balance.
The first is from the 1927 Solvay Conference, one of the 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 like Einstein, Curie, Heisenberg, and others.
Minds who chased truth, not valuations.
Their currency was curiosity.
Their KPI was understanding.
Now place it next to this AI-generated image of 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆’𝘀 𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 “𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆”: Musk, Nadella, Bezos, Huang, Cook.
Leaders, not of laboratories, but of trillion-dollar corporations.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, science quietly changed hands.
From seekers to shareholders.
From pure inquiry to product roadmaps.
From “What is reality?” to “What is monetisable?”
And the 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 are visible everywhere:
📌 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Today, the world’s 3,028 billionaires hold more wealth than every country except the US and China.
The 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻 have doubled their fortunes since 2020, while the bottom 60% of the global population has become poorer.
📌 Meanwhile, 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗹 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 has been steadily declining.
The share of governments in scientific research and development is declining- the private sector dominates and prioritises commercial R&D.
This is what happens 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, and knowledge, instead of liberating, begins to deepen inequality.
--------------------------
𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 has often highlighted the root of this crisis: self-ignorance.
“Technology in the 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 will prove disastrous for everybody.
Technology alone doesn’t mean much, in fact, it becomes dangerous if we have no knowledge of who we are.
For real progress, we need both: knowledge of the world and knowledge of the one seeking that knowledge.
If the eye doesn’t turn inward, and if we don’t understand our own mental processes, we are bound to misuse that knowledge.
Damn, I made it on today’s news.
Veganism is only going to grow. Happy to play a small part in this important fight.
I will be fighting for the animals in some way the rest of my life. One day humanity will be peaceful. That is my belief, and hope.
That is why we need a 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻, the education of the self.
The tragedy is that this education is almost entirely absent today.
As a result, you may 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳, you may find that you are living a degraded existence.
You may understand the structure of an atom,
yet remain unaware of what is happening in your own heart."

📍 Noor
"*No price is too big for freedom."*
🧭 Noor

@Ramraajya@Uppolice
@Ramraajya@Uppolice
