To Japanese people,

First of, it's either disingenuous or ignorant to assume white people haven't done such a thing in the past.
Here's a list of every instance of whitewashing these people have done in Western media: https://t.co/CwFShjySpR, which still happens.

Secondly, in the West, many racist white people don't want to see any form of anime/manga style Black characters, period. And that is regardless of whether original or fanmade. Whenever they see it, you can expect to see an onslaught of racist insults and comments to follow. Take "Half is More" manga, for example. They were quick to attack it with racism to delegitimize it as a manga. There are other examples I'll add in the replies. Truth is, it just excuses the racism and doesn't address it head-on.

Lastly, this isn't directly to you, but I'll use this post as an opportunity to showcase some works of people who are creating stuff, some of which are manga/anime inspired.
