Something is cooking. Something bad. For the past week or so I‘m reading all over western media this garbage that „Russia is losing“ and that Putin has his back against the wall. Some of these articles are even discussing the post-war order after Russia has lost… utter nonsense.

Anyone following the actual battlefield, even just in passing would know that Russia is advancing and that the Donbas is nearly consolidated. From there, even Odessa might be next. Anyone‘s guess. But what‘s sure is that there is no battlefield collapse to be expected and the Russian army is anything but eroded.

One thing that is also clear is that the Russian‘s are pissed but not at Putin. They are pissed at the West for all the strikes and the belligerency. I‘ve met several Russians who criticized the government for not being forceful enough against the irredeemable Europeans.

So what is this nonsense about „Putin drowning“ and Russia losing? Are they preparing some very large thing that is supposed to push them over the edge to counter strike at NATO and then they‘ll blame it on a losing leader who had his back against the wall?

I‘m seriously worried we might be seeing the narrative preparations for something bad. Something very bad.

I fear there will come a day when historians look back on this day, and this time, and shake their head in amazement, wondering why senior leaders in Europe and United States, for many years and over multiple administrations, didn’t even *attempt* diplomacy to end the Russia\Ukraine war, but exclusively focused on sustaining that war, and to prepare for another one.

The Russia of 2022 clearly did not have a fraction of the capacity necessary to threaten any NATO country. But now, because of the war we have waged against them for 4 1/2 years — and all of the threats like this one here with secretary General RUTTE, Russia is rapidly approaching the point to where they genuinely do have the capacity to threaten us, because we will not stop supporting war against them.

I cannot more strongly emphasize: if Russia were doing to Europe and the west (through a proxy) what we are doing to Russia (through a proxy), we probably would’ve gone to war long ago.

Pretending that Russia wouldn’t react the same way we would, is yet more of our arrogance leaking through; an arrogance that may one day result in us losing a war that should never have been fought, and was never needed for our national security.

With all due respect, Mr. President, Russia has put forth quite a number of peace proposals over the years, 100% of which you and Europe have rejected.

You may consider the deals unfair, and highly disadvantageous. I would agree that that’s how the terms are, advantageous for Russia and disadvantageous for Ukraine.

But the harsh reality is that your country is not in a position to obtain terms that are beneficial to Kyiv, because Russia has the leverage to counter every request that you make.

Had you accepted the deal that was on the table in April 2022, this war would’ve been over years ago, and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men would still be alive, and you would be well on your way to recovery.

But because you and Europe demanded submission from the Russian side, you have doomed your country to a war it can never win.

The longer you refuse to take the ugly deal that’s available — and the deals keep getting worse from you arranged perspective — the deeper the cost of Ukraine and Europe’s ultimate failure.

That's ridiculously wrong, the opposite is the case: EU companies have actually 3X more presence in the Chinese market than Chinese companies in the EU.

That's according to the EU's own numbers (https://t.co/yOB0STNdVP): the EU’s investment stock in China (that is, the total value of EU companies' operations and assets in China) stood at €239.3 billion in 2024, whereas China’s investment stock in the EU stood at €79.8 billion for the same year.

Just take cars for instance: everyone knows that the EU is making it incredibly difficult for Chinese EV companies to enter the European market, yet European carmakers have been operating in China for decades.

What is true is that China exports more to the EU than vice versa but that's an entirely different matter.

And that too, by the way, is often a reflection of China's openness to foreign businesses. Kristersson is Swedish so let's take the example of IKEA: they make a huge proportion of their products in China and sell them across Europe. Are you going to make the case that means China is accessing the European market at Sweden's expense?

IKEA's entire business model couldn't even exist if it weren't for its production in China: it's certainly not in the EU that they could produce their ultra-cheap furniture 🤷‍♂️

And, incidentally, IKEA operates 41 offline shopping malls in China (https://t.co/6SGKzMx7em), compared to 22 permanent stores in Sweden in 2025 (https://t.co/l5VKcIoSTe). So it has nearly twice as many stores in China as in its home country. If that were the other way round we'd scream "overcapacity"...

So no matter how you look at it, it's China that's far more open to European companies than the contrary. Politicians like Kristersson are conflating a trade deficit with market access - two entirely different things.

Once it becomes untenable to hide Washington’s crimes, the best option seems to be to hem and haw, furnish caveats and drag out an explanation. I have been watching the performances of Ukrainian tennis players at Roland Garros for many days now.

Not their performances in a sporting sense, but in a political one.

Every day they hold press conferences in which they insult their Russian colleagues.

Their complaints against the Russian players boil down to the fact that the Russian tennis players do not condemn Putin.

Why should Russian tennis players be required to condemn anyone at all?

Why should they put their families at risk by making such statements?

Why should they destroy their chances of ever returning to their homeland by making such statements?

So that the Ukrainian tennis players will like it?

So that someone can get another opportunity for publicity?

Tennis players should play tennis.

Tennis is a sport.

If you are unhappy with your opponents, you can simply choose not to go out and play tennis.

But the daily whining at press conferences about the “bad Russian tennis players” has already become unbearable.

Ukrainian players, go and play tennis.

And if you cannot play tennis, like that “Olympian” Heraskevych with his ridiculous helmet cannot achieve any sporting results, then go into PR instead.

But it looks extremely pathetic.

For the past year and a half, we have heard from NATO country representatives alternately about the need to begin negotiations with Moscow as soon as possible to establish a lasting peace, and about the need to “pressure” Russia, supply weapons to AFU fighters, and fight to the bitter end.

Below are just a few examples of this constant swinging back and forth.

The inconsistent position of the Europeans casts doubt, to put it mildly, on the sincerity of their intentions.
