And we conclude a powerful March against the unplaced learners in the Western Cape Province. South Africa remember the faces of these young people. Like the court said @WCEDnews fix your admission policy now to avoid excluding more vulnerable learners. #sofundasonke

📍Church Square
We are protesting for black learners in the Western Cape to be urgently placed in schools. It is disgrace that today on the 15th June 2026 we still have over 50 unplaced learners and their parents are with us today! #SofundaSonke

@budgetjusticesa we can really help with engaging on our 'different views' by committment to sharing the info that our 'experts' have in useful ways to reach masses of people. Informed, people and orgs can debate abnd make informed decisions.
@budgetjusticesa for massive change to government with its heels dug in to austerity - needs us as sector of the public to support actions that cause discomfort, and disturb the status quo. We will not succeed without this. This is investment of heart, time, and people.
@budgetjusticesa no idea how to raise my hand. The persistent and deepening austerity proposals will not be changed by our clever submissions alone. Must join up the analysis with mass action. @equal_education
@budgetjusticesa with our privilege as civil society to get the info we do and be at the tables we can get to - e.g. parli, NT, we must take responsibility for listening to, informing and supporting broader public action. @equal_education
@IEJ_SA@budgetjusticesa The actual tax bill on companies in SA is 18% - very low in global terms. Add the money lost due to illicit financial flows – mining sectors. This is where government should focus, not on increasing tax on the poor.
@budgetjusticesa townhall – ‘Starvation and Hunger levels shocking in SA – 30% of households in SA are food insecure – 1 in 4 households in SA need to send someone out to beg – social spending is critical investment’. Increasing VAT increases the violation of these.
BUDGET 2025 | The IEJ has always strongly opposed increasing VAT. VAT is a tax on the poor…even if certain items are zero-rated. There are many other revenue-raising options. For transformation & justice, the wealthiest can & must contribute more.
@equal_education 's Mahfouz - Social spending is a vital tool for development. It is too narrow to only look at investment to benefit business and profits, we are calling on government to invest in people, in good lives.
@budgetjusticesa townhall on the failed tabling of 2025 Budget: @IEJ_SA call on civil society to unite - This moment is an opportunity for civil society to mobilise against tax hikes. @equal_education
#ClassOf2024, the wait is nearly over! At 6pm tonight, Basic Edu Minister @Siviwe_G will take the podium to announce the matric results. This moment is the culmination of 12 years of hard work and dedication you have invested. #MatricResults2024
3/3 Worse still, austerity makes our public sector vulnerable to predatory private interests. Companies swoop in, promising efficiency but often delivering exploitation. #MTBPS2024#StopEducationBudgetCuts
This crisis extends beyond Western Cape. Provinces struggle to fill existing teaching vacancies due to budget constraints. There were 68,786 unfilled vacancies in 2022/23. Without adequate planning and funding, we're failing an entire generation. #SifunaUkufunda#MTBPS2024
