Our study in JAMA is out! 52 workers with silicosis due to engineered stone in California, 39% with advanced disease, 10 fatal cases and counting so far all in young men, predominantly immigrants. article author podcast and media coverage below @shef_gandhi
So many amazing talks today but my favorite so far - “The ILD and Transplant Journey: A Patient’s Perspective” with one of our transplant patients and @Lunglady1! So great to hear first hand from our patients and their journey. #UCLAALD
Agree! I am curious if #transplant programs have any early experience with paxlovid that they can share? If you’ve used it, how have you managed drug drug interactions (in particular with CNIs)?
Announcing our first annual @UCLAHealth Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplantation Symposium, March 5th 2022! I am excited to learn from the amazing faculty, including @DrVadimG@Lunglady1@samweigtmd @IPScottOh @rchannick and others.
Sharing our new video in collaboration with @atscommunity to highlight how we at @UCLAHealth and @UCLAPCCM are working to improve EDI within #pulmcc
Special thanks to Roxana Cortes-Hixson, Wale Amubieya, John Belperio, @LALungDoctor @rgbMDPhD @IOEmeruwa for your participation!
1/ Let the meet up Mondays continue! This week we will be meeting the man behind the scenes, our assistant PD and the medical director of the lung and heart-lung transplant programs, @davidsayah
Excellent summary of the difficulties facing transplant patients given the uncertainties surrounding vaccine efficacy in this group, even after boosters. Regulators and pharma should prioritize understanding how to protect these vulnerable patients.
The new CDC vaccinated people guidelines do NOT apply to immunosuppressed/transplant patients. The fact that the CDC does not clearly say that is irresponsible. Seems it's our job to spread the word. Please do.
Breaking news 🔥 🔥 🔥: we will have funds for a Transplant ID fellow starting in July 2021 at @dgsomucla Division of Infectious Diseases - great place to learn at one of the largest transplant centers in the US ! DM me with questions @AST_IDCOP@ttsorg@ISHLT@AST_TYFCOP
I am biased, but UCLA #PCCM fellowship is among the best. Not only great clinical & research training, but also terrific people: our stellar PD @drtishawang, med-ed guru @ktmel11, and most of all amazing fellows like @soniajasujamd @NoCoughEng @GiladJaffe @rsuri88 & many more.
