We can confirm that Micah Mbick will miss the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury.
The U’s number 33 was forced off early at Newport last weekend, necessitating a visit to hospital in South Wales following the final whistle. The good news, however, is that after seeing a surgeon yesterday it looks likely that he won’t require surgery and will instead take a more conservative approach, with his knee placed in a brace for the next 10–12 weeks to see how it heals. Of course, this will mean that he’ll be ruled out for the remaining games and therefore the remainder of his loan spell with the U’s.
Four days earlier, Harvey Araujo was also in hospital miles from home after suffering a fractured cheekbone at Chesterfield. Harvey will undergo surgery to have a plate fitted, although he will need to wait for the swelling to go down before any procedure can take place, meaning it is still too early to put any timeline on his return.
The thoughts of everyone at the club are with both players and we wish them both a speedy recovery.
