I am saddened by the death of Geoffrey Tattersall KC, whose chairing of Synod debates, including LLF, with humour and integrity, greatly aided our discernment. His gift was to foster good-natured debate, even in moments of deep difference. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Popped into the Adult Social Care coffee morning in Parliament and met @SamWillacy from Kendal! We discussed the need for people with lived experience to be properly consulted by councils & NHS when decisions are made about services for people with autism & learning difficulties.
This is seriously grim. I’m reluctant to glibly overuse the term ‘far right’, but this is properly abhorrent. The tragedy, Richard, is that - whatever one’s views on migration - you think it’s OK to camp outside the sanctuary of people whose circumstances you can’t even imagine.
It was a great first full day of the campaign, out and about mostly in Kendal and Windermere - before finishing with a lovely pint and a chat with the South Lakes Autism Support Group at the Wakefield Arms.
The majority of the public, Tory & Labour voters alike, want to turf out the profiteering polluters running our water companies - yet only @thegreenparty has policy to end the legalised scam of privatisation. Predictably the PM had no answers @We_OwnIt#Brighton#pmqs

Great attending The Adult Social Care APPG’s Future of Care 5 Reception in parliament on Wednesday 20th March.
It was great that my local MP Tim Farron attended.
It was great to speak about my thought and priorities for social care. #ASCAPPG#TimFarron@ASCAPPG@timfarron
So deeply depressing - & frankly terrifying - that as many as 68 Tory MPs just voted to make shameful #Rwanda Bill even more shameful by supporting amendment which would explicitly disapply *any* international law that might stop removals. This is seriously dangerous territory
Houthi attacks in Red Sea are clearly deeply destabilising but UK involvement in retaliatory action is very concerning. What’s the strategy? If it escalates further how far is Govt willing to go? And why the UK & US alone? This should be fully debated & voted on in parliament
Here's the crux. If Govt can argue that ploughing ahead with Rosebank, 100+ other oil & gas licences and Cumbria coal mine all count as "transitioning away from fossil fuels", then either they haven't read a word of the #COP28 text, or the text itself just isn't strong enough.
Deep shame that flagship promise to LGBTQ+ community to ban 'conversion therapy' isn’t in #KingsSpeech, at a time we’re seeing terrible rise in hate crime against trans people. Sunak's Govt is sending a message that they tolerate this abuse. They must act to #banconversiontherapy
More nasty divisiveness from the hard right playbook Sunak is using for his speech. Horrible veiled attack on trans people for a cheap round of applause. He doesn't care about the fact hate crimes against trans people have gone up 56% under this Government's watch. #CPC2023
This is pure political game-playing from Sunak, but all of us will pay the price. Delaying energy efficiency measures will mean higher bills & more emissions. Delaying green investment will mean fewer jobs & less prosperity. Delaying petrol ban will mean dirtier air. What a farce
🚨BREAKING ‼️ Excellent news that Court of Appeal has ruled Braverman's utterly inhumane, grotesquely immoral & totally unworkable #Rwanda scheme to be illegal too - & in clear breach of human rights law. Time for an asylum policy which treats people with respect & dignity.
In 13 years as Green MP, I've called out incompetent Ministers, challenged Government cowardice over #Brexit, demanded more affordable housing, helped secure ban on fracking, stood up for refugees – and always put #BrightonPavilion first. Some of my highlights in Parliament 👇📽️
