Kumaoni Holi is not just a celebration. It is identity, memory and music carried through generations in the hills of Uttarakhand.
In villages across Kumaon, Holi is sung in classical ragas. It is performed sitting in temple courtyards, standing in village squares, led by elders and carried forward by the youth. Women gather for Khadi Holi and Baithki Holi. There is discipline, there is devotion, there is dignity. No chaos. No spectacle. Just tradition breathing in its pure form.
For centuries this culture has survived without promotion, without branding, without funding. It has survived because people believed in it.
Now it is high time the government steps forward and does what is needed to get Kumaoni Holi recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Not for prestige. Not for tourism brochures. But for preservation.
If we do not document and protect our living traditions today, tomorrow we will only talk about them in past tense.
Kumaoni Holi deserves recognition. It deserves protection. And it deserves it now.
@anil_am22 Because, as a culture we always crave for catching the bus that has already left the stand and forget to focus on opportunity that would be coming our way.
I’m selling these Christian Louboutin heels on eBay for under $600 these are brand new. I received them in error from a retailer which can’t be returned now.
