Agree! It's not America's job to protect OpenAI's and Anthropic's business models and investors. This is just cronyism. US tech always wins because of openness, competition, capital allocation, and rapid iteration. Not by creating the Great Wall of China around it.

Even with flexible hardwiring this is a big gamble. Subquadratic Models are a thing and increasingly so. Chinese open source models are proving that software efficiency > hardware specialization.

There's a lot of pressure on closed models to match efficiency gains or show massive breakthroughs, which have had diminishing returns as of late. Since the industry is actively shifting toward multi-head latent attention and decoupled RoPE, the probability of architectural obsolescence seems fairly high.

The danger isn't the raw math operations; it’s that hardwired silicon cannot easily reconfigure its physical memory registers and data-routing layouts when the underlying data compression shapes change. Massive risk?🤷‍♂️

@TheCinesthetic It's more subjective taste at this point. Digital has gotten so good that it's really difficult for most viewers to distinguish, especially on mediums that most people consume movies on e.g. streaming. Though there are some technical areas where film is still better.
