On merchants passing on 0.4% UPI MDR transaction charge to consumers-
"Doing so would violate law & will be criminal offence. This will never be imposed on customer or common man. You can't impose this on our consumer"
But @JM_Scindia Ji, how many consumers are going to waste time in lodging a Police Complaint or in going to Consumer Court & wait for 10 yrs to get verdict? Sir, no-one has this much time & will simply prefer to go away from UPI.
In my opinion, UPI must remain free especially when Bharat is expanding it to multiple Nations. About cost of system incurred by NPCI to maintain system— Govt can give it subsidy but keep it free for Consumers as well as Merchants. Alternate sources of revenue can be revisited & thought upon.
Yes, they do.
They first figure out how much insurance cover is there and then bill the patient to clean out the entire cover.
If a surgery on an average costs 3-4 lakh they can bill 17-20 lakh.
The doctor's (and other bills) compensation differs according to room rent!
The failure of privately bought health insurance is not just an insurer issue; it is a problem of well-networked hospitals resisting any attempt to agree on costs for the most common surgeries.

The Economist magazine is disappointed that India did not celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Mughal conquest of India. Oh, those ungrateful natives who do not celebrate the gift of civilisation. Who knows, they may even refuse to celebrate the Battle of Plassey. Dangerous trend.....
The myth that Vasco da Gama "discovered" the sea route to India is a staple of history books, but it ignores nearly 2,000 years of thriving maritime commerce.
We’re told he "discovered" the sea route to India in 1498, but the truth is much more fascinating. 🧵
1️⃣ Ancient Networks: 2,000 years before Da Gama, the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea served as a "Lonely Planet" guide for traders across 26 Indian ports
2️⃣ Economic Powerhouse: By 50 CE, India was a manufacturing giant, trading everything from black pepper to tortoise shells for Roman gold and wine
3️⃣ The "Discovery" Myth: When Da Gama finally reached Africa's east coast, he didn't find "the unknown" - he found Indian ships already there. He actually had to be guided to India by a Gujarati captain named Kanji Malam

Spent 2.5 hours at the Bihar Museum in Patna yesterday and it wasn’t nearly enough! The Museum is a world-class gem — the seamless blend of modern architecture and ancient treasures is stunning. I spent over two hours wandering through the Mauryan, Gupta, and Pala dynasty collections, and I still feel like I missed so much. The interactive Children's Gallery and the courtyard spaces are 10/10 as well.
Today, we are taking a historic step forward in India-Oman relations, whose positive impact will be felt for decades to come. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will energise our ties in the 21st century.
It will give new momentum to trade, investment and open new opportunities across different sectors. The youth of both nations will greatly benefit.

Glad to see Laalu alive to see his family getting decimated at the polls.
Thousands of 90s kids who had to live away from their parents in boarding schools just to avoid getting kidnapped, thousands who had to forfeit their ancestral land as a bribe to get a clerical job, millions who studied hard under a lantern or a petromax to somehow escape the jungle raj. All of them, across the world, doing well, now looking at their phone screens and the numbers, and smiling. This is victory.

India is planning to develop Great Nicobar Island into a hub comparable to Singapore.
The project carries immense strategic and economic significance.
And that’s exactly why anti-India forces are desperate to block it, they know how powerful it will be at the gates of the Malacca Strait.
For Gandhis, blocking India’s rise has always been the family business.

The new GST rates are a good, no very good step. But I cannot for the life of me understand why cannot all motorcycles be charged the same GST? What is this obsession with 350cc cut off? Why not 200CC or 150CC or 500CC? Why cannot all passenger cars be charged the same rate? The same story in some other sectors. But I suppose in my lifetime I will never see a day when we get simple, sensible tax policies.
