@AdamSchefter Last night my 8 yo son asked to watch Perfection at Pebble - the documentary on YouTube re Tiger’s 2000 US Open performance. We stayed up way late watching & then watched a bit of the 97 Masters. We marveled. And now this. Glad Tiger’s okay - but disappointing on so many levels.
It's hard to put into words just how extreme the heatwave coming to California and the Western US is going to be. This truly ranks among the most extraordinary heatwaves the United States has ever seen.
One perfect example: Palm Springs is forecast to hit 111°F next Friday. That would smash the US record high for the month of March by 3 degrees. It would also be 7 degrees warmer than any other March day Palm Springs has ever seen.
Head a little farther south into Coachella Valley, and the town of Thermal is forecast to reach 113°F, which would tie the record for the hottest temperature ever recorded in the US in April. And this would happen on March 20th. Thermal's hottest March day on record is 103°F. Breaking a monthly record by 10 degrees is virtually unheard of.
I could go on and on with statistics about how absurd this event is, but this heatwave is the word "unprecedented" at its most literal.

@Dodgers God I wish we had Vin Scully to put that homer in context vs all others in the history of Dodgers Stadium - not to mention this all-time Sho performance we’re witnessing.
Is tennis the only sport where they make the loser of a major match stick around and even give a speech mere minutes after a gutting defeat? Imagine Rory McIlroy being forced to give praise to Bryson Dechambeau after last year’s U.S. Open meltdown? #rolandgarros
@KESQ My family and I were avid supporters — attending many games and even buying multiple mini season plans. But Acrisure quickly jacked up concession and parking prices. $35 to park? Beer flirting with $20? In the valley? It became such a money grab that we didn’t bother going back.
