I am vehemently against costco water bottles for any parties at home. My indian brain cant fathom the waste.

I keep all the glass, ceramic and steel glasses out and some paper cups. Fill big water jugs, dispensers or use water dispenser on the fridge.

One invention that I believe harms the environment the most and is hardly useful is the small plastic water bottle (100–500 ml).

Earlier, we used to serve water in glasses. Now, wherever we go, we are given small plastic bottles. Even weddings follow this trend, creating huge amounts of plastic waste.

In the Andaman Islands, water bottles below 2 litres are not allowed, and you will rarely find plastic bottles in restaurants or hotels. I think this is a great step, and one reason why the beaches and roads there are so clean.

Other states should learn from this.
