As much as I like the Unleashed, Storybook, Frontiers, and even the IDW version of him, this version has and always will be the true and best version of Sonic the Hedgehog to me:

With all this Digital Circus talk, I'd like to point out a character who has similar vibes to Sally Acorn, that being Ribbit.
One, both characters come off as calm and collected, even during stressful times.
Ribbit isn't a leader like Sally, but she is take charge in her own way. She was quick to help Jax out and formed a bond with him.
Both are friends with a country girl, Ribbit having Ragatha and Sally having Bunnie.
Both are also good friends with a gentle giant. Ribbit has Kaufmo and Sally has Rotor.
Both characters have that caring and loving tone, and can maintain the calm after an exciting adventure.
Slight fact, both VAs used their natural speaking voice for the characters. Granted with Sally, it wasn't like that at first as her VA made Sally sound cutesy in a cartoony way.
At the risk of being crass, both characters have...minimal clothing shall we way. But it's done in a way that's tasteful.
I know that's weird to bring up but I always found it strange that people complain about Sally's lack of clothes (notably pants). Like if Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, and even someone like Sly Cooper, can do it just fine, what's the difference if Sally does it? Ribbit shows it can still be done.
I'm not saying make all furry girls naked, but if they appear that way, and it's in a cartoonish fashion, don't make a big deal about it. It makes you look bad.
Sorry about the rant but I needed to make that point.
In the end, Sally and Ribbit have these key similarities, even being romantic interests for the main male lead of their respective franchises.
The saddest similarity is that they went through a really bad argument with their boyfriends at one point (though Sally was able to reconcile at least), and went through a horrendous transformation. (Abstraction and Roboticization).
At least Roboticization can be fixed. Abstraction cannot. (Unless it gets retconned).
On that topic, at least Sally is lucky enough to find a boyfriend who respects her, even in difficult times. What Jax did to Ribbit (and Kaufmo), was low. Funny that Fleetway Sonic is known for being a jerk, but he never did what Jax did. And yeah, I know Jax is tragic and he clearly regrets his actions, but that's still no excuse for what he did.
Sally should be grateful that Sonic never acts that way. And Sonic himself is bad at conveying his own emotions too.
Since it's still June, let's use this as a cautionary tale. Guys, take care of your mental health. If you find a woman like Ribbit or Sally, don't be afraid to trust them.
Men's Mental Health is important. Don't be Jax, be Sonic.
Sorry to preach but I do want to keep an eye out for all of you.
Anyway, that's all I had to say.

"Yeah, I feel good!" In the second place, we have Gaia Ruggenini. By far the most emotionally resonant of the submissions, this is a good take on the Sally rescue conclusion.
