They cite they won't be believed, in part due to the "male= offender" narrative. Indeed, reporters state they face questions about behaviors, sexuality and overall hostile response.
Of those who report, only 1 in 5 are referred to prosecution.
4 of 5 are dismissed by law enforcement; dismissals heavily influenced by the reporting victims mental health or substance use.
In other words: if you are a male victim, you will be victim blamed by agencies in place for victim aid.

NOSFERATU: A No Spoilers Film Review: I just got done watching this film and what can I say. As a film student this movie hits every note of the technical categories. This is Cinema. Do not, DO NOT be surprized if this gets nominated in multiple categories come Oscar time. For me, Cinematography, Set Design, Costuming, Music and ACTING.

I am not influenced by the fact that Lily-Rose Depp is in it and I’m a fan of her dad’s when it comes to my assessment of this film. She legitimately did a fantastic job here. Her facial expressions, her physicality, the absolute horror she portrayed. I was actually surprized how well she did, and her depth. The monster was so creepy and another stellar performance by Bill Skarsgard. The voice, the movement, under all that great makeup and costuming. As a monster he’s a 10.

The Dracula and Vampire lore is my favorite to begin with. And I have to say that Robert Eggers stayed true to the original story that we know so well. If you are a purist, This is for you. If you wanted an original recipe, he gave you that. You wanted steak, he gave you steak, “well done” steak with no distraction from side items.

It is a slow burn. But not slow..The only thing I have seen questioned in other reviews is pacing. Anybody who has said it is slow, the comments say the opposite under those reviews. Some said it is too short, and that the movie did not feel like 2 hours. I concur.

The transitions that the director used, I couldn’t tell what was a painting, that would easily blend with the scenery, or flip upside down into reality from fantasy. It is mesmerizing. Really beautiful. And stayed Gothic. Old gothic, with modern technology. The original film is 100 years old. You are watching the original with all the beautiful advances of filmmaking that we have today.

If you saw Francis Ford Coppola’s
Bram Stoker’s Dracula, you may want to compare, but don’t. I love that film. That move was “extra”. And made into a love story. Nosferatu 2024 concentrated on the monster. He is truly vile. And the powerful hold that he has on people. Lily was phenomenal in her role. Now as a Depp fan I can say that I’m happy for her. This performance will definitely get her more work. Serious quality work.

Back to Bill Skargard’s monster. He lives in the shadows, but the voice and movements are what they should be. He’s wretched. Not a romantic Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. I love this spin on the Dracula monster, Count Orlok.

The film is dark, and stays there. You have to remember if you seen the original 1922 version, the character lives in shadows. They keep the ominous tone here. Don’t watch this film expecting a venti Frappuccino from Starbucks. Think more like a small, strong, quality espresso. This has been my “Nosferatu 2024” Film Review.
