To be alive in India:
1) Even if you aren’t wrong, say sorry and move on. Don’t get into arguments on the road with anyone. Control your anger and move on. Nothing is worth risking your life over.
2) Live in a good gated community that matches your social wavelength. Not saying this because I’m in this business. It genuinely saves you from a lot of unnecessary problems.
3) Buy a car as soon as you can. Even if you’re a safe two wheeler rider, Indian roads can disappoint you and sometimes, the consequences can cost your family a lot.
4) Don’t drive fast just because the road is empty. You can control your driving. You can’t control the idiot coming from the opposite direction.
5) Don’t pick fights with strangers. You have no idea who they are, what they are capable of, or what they are carrying. Walk away.
6)If you’re travelling late at night, use the safest option available. Saving ₹500 is not worth putting yourself in a situation you can’t control. Skip night drives > 30 km post 11 PM as much as possible.
7)Avoid roadside food as much as possible. It may look tempting and harmless, but hygiene, water quality, oil quality and food storage are things you simply cannot control.
She is Ramabai Ranveer, a 47-year-old mother from Ambajogai in Maharashtra.
She works hard to support her family and her daughters’ education. After the death of her husband, the responsibility of raising and educating her two daughters fell on her shoulders.
When she heard about a local marathon called Amrit Daud, she decided to participate. The winner would receive Rs 3000. For many people, Rs 3000 may seem like a small amount.
But for a mother struggling to support her children’s dreams, that money meant something much bigger. It could help with education. It could help with fees. It could help her daughters move one step closer to their dreams.
She did not have proper running shoes, professional sportswear, or special training. But she had something much stronger than all of that....a dream for her daughters and the determination to make sure their education continued.
On the day of the race, she arrived wearing a simple saree and slippers. Around her were younger runners, many of them better prepared and wearing proper running shoes. But Ramabai was there with only one goal in her heart: to run for her daughters and their future.
As the race began, her slippers started causing problems and slowing her down. She could have stopped. She could have given up. But she didn’t. Instead, Ramabai removed her slippers, held them in her hands, and continued running barefoot.
Imagine that moment. A 47-year-old mother, running on the road without shoes, wearing a saree, competing against younger runners with proper running shoes. Every step must have been difficult, but the thought of her daughters and their education gave her the strength to keep moving forward.
And then, she did something truly incredible. Ramabai Ranveer crossed the finish line first and won the marathon. She won the Rs 3000 prize money that she had hoped to use to support her daughters’ education.
Respect to you, Ramabai Ji. There is no greater warrior than a mother.
Maharashtra govt should help fund her daughters’ education. When so many freebies and welfare schemes are being offered, why shouldn’t meaningful support be given to those who truly need it and are working hard to build a better future?
Mumbai is a city desperately short of open spaces, yet existing gardens, playgrounds and recreation grounds are increasingly being encroached upon, commercially exploited or even proposed for change of reservation.
This issue raised since months has now been highlighted in @mid_day. Despite my earlier complaint and repeated requests, a garden plot at Sherly Rajan Road, off Carter Road, Bandra West continues to be misused by BMC road contractor as a site office and storage facility courtesy @mybmcWardHW.
This land is meant for public use, not private construction material storage. @mybmc must act immediately, clear the encroachment and restore the plot as a usable garden/open space for residents.

Watch the doctor's reaction when she's hit by that goon corporator.
She goes completely blank.
The exams, sleepless nights & sacrifices it took to become a doctor probably flashed before her eyes.
That thug belongs behind bars for a long time!
A cab driver in India firmly stands up for basic respect and his workspace after a passenger lights a cigarette inside the vehicle without asking.
Driver: "Sir, did you ask me before lighting that? Smoking isn't allowed in my car."
Passenger: "Why should I ask? It's a taxi, not your personal car."
Driver: Cancels the ride immediately. "I don't want your money. Please get out. I'm a professional taxi driver, not your servant."
Dear @police_haryana team,

1-7 July was a week I'll remember for a long time.
By profession.. I'm an Advocate who specialises in Real Estate.
Weather has always been my passion. But this week both worlds peaked at the same time.
Friday & Saturday were brutal. I had slept for just 50 minutes in an entire 24 hour period, didn't get one full hour. The rest was office work, deal closures, radar monitoring, media calls, forecasts and nonstop updates to family, clients, relatives, friends & on Twitter. Tried catching up on 4-5 hours of sleep the next day after barely sleeping the previous night. Woke up to missed calls and instantly wished I'd been awake to track the situation.
Alarms at 1:30 AM, 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM became routine. I woke up on purpose because it's July anything can happen to Mumbai overnight. There was no schedule. Only responsibility.
Many people see the forecasts. Very few see what happens behind them.
Every monsoon teaches something. This one taught me how much responsibility comes with people's trust.
I don't forecast because it's my profession. I do it because when Mumbai comes to a standstill, someone has to stay awake, track the weather and keep people informed throughout the night.
Back to being a lawyer every morning. Back to being a weatherman every night.
No complaints. Just responsibility.
Thank you to everyone who trusted the updates over the last week.
Politicians making reels with their social media teams in tow, is totally cringe now. I hope they realise (politicians r supposed to hv pulse of the people) that people are beginning to see thru these gimmicks.Delhi CM @gupta_rekha Mumbai Mayor @TawdeRitu
