India-UK to sign IGA for Electric Propulsion Systems on 4 LPDs
India and the UK are set to sign an Inter-Governmental Agreement to co-design, co-develop, and co-produce Integrated Full Electric Propulsion systems for the Indian Navy. GE Vernova and BHEL will build India’s first maritime Land-Based Testing Facility to support the programme.
The IFEP tech will first power 4 Landing Platform Docks, with plans to scale to larger warships above 6,000 tonnes and retrofit older vessels. This builds on the Statement of Intent signed in Portsmouth in November 2024.

JUST IN | Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Helicopter Engines have signed a contract with SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Pvt. Ltd. (SAFHAL) for the design, development, manufacture, supply, and lifecycle support of a new-generation high-power helicopter engine in the 3,500 to 4,000 shp power class, named “Aravalli”.
The contract was signed by Mr. Ajay Kumar Shrivastava, Director (Engineering, R&D), HAL & Mr. Olivier Savin, Director, SAFHAL Helicopter Engines and Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Safran Helicopter Engines. The ceremony was presided by Mr. Ravi K, CMD, HAL & Mr. Cédric Goubet, Chief Executive Officer, Safran Helicopter Engines.
