🚧 Know Your National Highways | #MythvsFact
Today’s myth addresses a common misconception that vehicles are entitled to free passage if queues at toll plazas extend beyond the 100-metre mark.
In reality, there is no such provision under the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008. Toll collection at National Highway fee plazas is carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Rules. Any exemptions from payment of user fee are specifically defined under the Rules and are prominently displayed at toll plazas for the information of NH users.
Before assuming eligibility for exemption, NH commuters are advised to refer to the notified provisions and information displayed at the toll plaza.

🌧️ Drive Safe This Monsoon on National Highways
Monsoon showers can reduce visibility and make road conditions unpredictable. Before starting your journey, ensure your vehicle's tyres, brakes, lights and wipers are in good condition.
Drive at a safe speed, maintain adequate distance from the vehicle ahead, avoid sudden braking or sharp turns, and always follow lane discipline and traffic signages. Exercise extra caution while driving through construction zones and during heavy rainfall.

Attention National Highway Users!
NHAI would like to inform that toll exemptions and discounts on National Highways are governed by the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
As per Rule 11, exemption from payment of user fee is applicable to specific categories of vehicles and persons, subject to prescribed conditions.
(Refer to the attached images)
In addition, Rule 9 provides for discounted passes, including monthly passes for local non-commercial vehicle users residing within 20 km of a toll plaza (where no service road or alternate road is available), and district-level concessions at reduced rates, as per eligibility.
NHAI urges all National Highway users to follow the notified rules, avail exemptions or discounts only if eligible, and cooperate with toll operators to ensure smooth, transparent, and hassle-free travel for everyone.
