ESCAPE FROM LAWFUL CUSTODY: POLICE APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE TO TRACE SUSPECT
The Ladybrand police are appealing to members of the community for assistance in tracing a suspect who escaped from lawful custody while receiving medical attention at a local hospital yesterday evening.
The escapee, Lehlohonolo Mxatula, was arrested for contravention of a Protection Order and common assault.
Anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact Ladybrand Detective Captain JT Ntlele on 082 466 7846 or CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
Members of the public are advised not to approach or confront the suspect, but to immediately provide any information to the police.

POLICE APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE TO IDENTIFY MURDERED WOMAN AND LOCATE HER NEXT OF KIN
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mangaung is appealing to members of the public to assist in identifying an unknown woman whose body was found in Bloemfontein earlier this month.
On Sunday, 5 July 2026, police responded to a complaint of a body lying in Fort Hare Street, Bloemfontein. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of an unidentified woman believed to be approximately 30 years old.
At the time she was found, she was dressed in black Nike track pants, a yellow and green T-shirt, a black track top, and white slip-on shoes.
A case of murder has been registered at Mangaung Police Station, and investigations are continuing.
The deceased has not yet been identified, and police are appealing to anyone who may recognise the description of the woman or who has information that could assist in tracing her identity or locating her next of kin to come forward.
Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could prove vital to the investigation.
