Hey folky dolks, I’ve really migrated all Twitter activity over to @MnChildCareAssn. Follow that if you like! I’m turning the lights out here for the time being. 😊
We are so proud of our very own, Clare Sandford, VP of Government and Community Relations. Clare has been a great advocate for early childhood education and was invited as a guest on CNN’s New Day Weekend to discuss the impact of COVID on families and early childhood education.
YES, pushing MN for this. Nothing is perfect; we are nearing paralysis. “This is possible and...critical because we are going to need to get through the next six weeks... and whatever comes next.” MA launches ‘test to stay’ child care program https://t.co/pUAYIWinBk @GovTimWalz
If anything is clear, it is truly that no one is coming to save working parents and their children. The model is broken. Hard work alone can’t fix it. We gotta commit.
"Gov. Tim Walz is making the case that 'this is the moment' for a permanent change to help families with child care" OH YES PLEASE! As the child care podcast is titled, no one is coming to save us. We need to step up. @GovTimWalz#mnleg https://t.co/oyLYmFBERz
@AngelaDavisMPR our country makes a collective commitment to all kids/families K-12. We leave them on their own birth - 5. No other developed nation does this.
What don't people get? "If my 4-year-old has pre-K, but I can’t find/afford care for my baby, I STILL CAN’T WORK. When lawmakers set up false choices, they leave families no choices at all.” FUND QUALITY CHILD CARE 0-5. Quality child care provides the same education as "preK."
Worth your hour to watch last night's PBS child care special. Help do something about this crisis at https://t.co/pcqlPijl4g.

Part-time preK for ages 3 & 4 while ignoring child care for 0-5 does little/nothing for most vulnerable children + parents trying to work during the 0-3 years when child care is most expensive & scarce. THIS WOULD BE BAD POLICY. @SenTinaSmith@RepDeanPhillips@RepAngieCraig
So much is good in this piece from @RepSpeier but I really love this: “We’re not asking for the moon.” It only sounds like a lot b/c we’ve had so little. Asking Congress to #SolveChildCare isn’t some outrageous demand. It’s exactly what’s needed. https://t.co/mlNXmAP7ni
Thank you @LtGovFlanagan (& @SenTinaSmith), you always make your understanding of/support for child care professionals known. After reading below, click here to DO SOMETHING about it: https://t.co/pcqlPi1JFG. Without child care, economy cannot thrive https://t.co/G68YBTF0t6
Clare Sanford, GR chair for the @MnChildCareAssn, discusses the importance of Congress' $3.5trillion spending bill, and notes that "this is the biggest thing to happen to the early childhood field ever in our country’s history." #solvechilcare@nhacademymn

The @SecondGentleman & @VP & @POTUS & plenty of legislators in all parties, not to mention bagillions of parents, agree. Please help ensure our country can do this: https://t.co/pcqlPi1JFG. #savechildcare
Story in today's @nytimes about how child care can't compete when 98% of other occupations pay more. Sounds like yet another reason to DO SOMETHING about that, like this action request: https://t.co/pcqlPi1JFG. All you need is your address. @POTUS@VP
You think it's annoying that restaurants are closed some days or service takes a long time? They're having more luck hiring staff than child care at the moment. From an overall economy perspective, that's just scary. #savechildcare@WhiteHouse@SenTinaSmith@SenAmyKlobuchar
Now is the time for Congress to address America’s inadequate child care system with a significant investment to ensure every family who needs it can access the care options they need. #SolveChildCare
