The population of the Maritimes (Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick) is approximately 1.9 million. They recieve 32 seats in total.
Alberta's population reached 5 million in 2025 and recieves 34 seats.
It’s hard, to watch President Trump & Elon Musk cleaning house & draining the swamp, because Canada is even worse & there is no relief in sight.
I’m jealous.
We desperately need a DOGE of our own.
We need investigations, into the rampant corruption, in the Liberal Government.
By accepting over a third a TRILLION dollars from Alberta oil money doesn't give you the right of saying there is no social acceptability to allow pipeline right of way through Quebec. Its that simple.
I'm telling you. There will be a full on constitutional crisis if this position DOES NOT change. I really worry that @realDonaldTrump will take advantage of it by offering Alberta @ABDanielleSmith what parts of Canada will not - the ability to grow economically.
This is the clear and present danger. I hope ALL Federal politicians realize the risks and act accordingly. And for the conservatives and @PierrePoilievre supporters out there, remember there were ZERO pipelines BUILT under Harper, absolutely ZERO.
@powerpig@shaunmmaguire@PierrePoilievre 2/2. But if you follow cdn politics at all trudeau was well on his way out FINALLY. This hopefully doesnt prolong his exit
@powerpig@shaunmmaguire@PierrePoilievre Yup. I think it was 20kg 2 years ago. So it doubled. And I for sure am not saying it’s nothing. I think law and order / defence/ economics are a federal governments number 1 responsibility. And the liberal government needs to go, as they have failed us in all areas.

This wasn’t cool by Trump
I always promised to call balls and strikes
I had always said this element of Trump with aggressive Tariffs is dangerous
This is just pure extortion now of Canada, basically using economic warfare to annex another nation that honestly if even this crazy thing would happen the unintended consequences would prob be dire for republicans if Canada was the 2nd largest state heavily leaning towards the Democrats especially after a power grab
My gut tells me, this is his “Art of the deal” that this is when he turns up the leverage to only settle for the original ask
It’s not sustainable financially for Canada after I have run the numbers, their unemployment could double within months and they just wouldn’t be able to sustain that. Some negotiation will have to be done
I expected Trump to focus on tax cuts first to have slack in order to use a bully pulpit. I was wrong
Goldman Sachs put out a note saying that they believe the panic from the Tariffs will be short lived and that a negotiation will arise sooner than later and that the Tariffs laid out so far are de minimis to the United States
I tend to agree with that, usually the panic is worse than the actual outcome.
I would believe that there will be more pressure to now do a tax cut and something that the markets could undoubtedly quantify like less capital gains on investments would spark a market rally
In the past he would react to negative market action by trying to balance out the seesaw. Now that he’s cracked some heads with his baseball bat, I would look for him to work on corporate tax cuts, capital gains tax, and the IRS as a whole along with heavy deregulation to balance out the seesaw
Tricky moment, I will do my best to call it how I see it without bias
Not financial advice!
On 9/11, when I was U.S. Ambassador to #NATO, the very first country that came to our defense was #Canada. Canadian forces then fought with us in Afghanistan. Lesson for Americans: Treasure our allies. Respect them. They’re on our side.
