Living in 100% Amrit Kaal,
driving 80% ethanol cars,
breathing 60% polluted air,
drinking 40% adulterated milk,
in an education system with 20% credibility,
to get killed with 0% dignity, by USA missiles, by mob lynchings, by a badly made bridge or a pothole, or just a stampede.
All this drama of going to 5 foreign countries every month to bring "business" is plain stupid.
Solve basics things, like:-
1) No dogs/animals on roads
2) Proper garbage collection
3) Easy availability of taxis (& fair pricing)
This itself boosts tourism by 15-20% especially foreign tourists. And, helps bring foreign $ (which we desperately need now).
Best part: the budget for 1 foreign visit can be used to solve all above issues in places like Goa.
We won't do it. Because we are "talk" economy.
Not an action economy.
It is common sense to pick low hanging fruits first.
But, who cares about common sense.
Political leaders, Prime Ministers, and Chief Ministers need not be domain experts. They have the mandate from the people to govern.
Technocrats advising leaders should be the cream of domain experts in the country.
The Prime Minister's Economic Advisor, Shamika Ravi has said:
"Freebies are hopefully increasing productivity of India."
Forget economics. This doesn't even meet the yardstick of common sense.
It's a cause of concern that with this kind of knowledge, people are advising the government on how to manage the economy.
She is sounding more and more political, a trait that needs to be completely avoided by technocrats.
I've nothing personal against Shamika Ravi. But saying poverty has almost been eradicated in India and justifying all economic disasters is not expected from Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council.
I don't know how many of you remember Montek Singh Ahluwalia. He was in a similar position in the previous governments. He never used to dress up anything. He was always factual and tried his best to find workable solutions. As a technocrat, his communications were never political.
We need people who acknowledge problems and then work towards addressing them.
@ANI Things have gone beyond control . you will solve the problem when you accept there is a problem. Ironically this govt don't accept there is a crisis. Instead of asking questions to govt Media is boitlicking them
@USAmbIndia Hopefully Ambassador Sergio reading comments and convey it to President trump
. For Indians self respect matters most .Parties who form govt in india will come & Go. But Trump's comment about india as hellhole is never acceptable.
